Wouters, un commissaire désabusé, se retrouve plongé dans un complot politique obscur qui pourrait devenir un piège mortel.
Paris, 1986. Un expert-comptable tombe de la fenêtre de son appartement. Tout laisse à penser à un suicide, l'homme était nerveux et agité, mais sa fille refuse obstinément d'y croire. Une amie lui donne le contact de son oncle, Wouters, un pilier de la PJ, commissaire désabusé proche de la retraite, qui décide de l'aider. Rapidement, il décèle des coïncidences troublantes : une série de cambriolages dans le sillage du mort, un " accident " sur le chantier en face de son immeuble, mais surtout, sa proximité avec certains membres du parti socialiste, mêlés à une sombre histoire de vente illégale d'armes. Derrière ce décès anodin en apparence, Wouters risque bien de déterrer des secrets que certains politique paieraient cher pour laisser enfouis.
