About this listen

Before he was the super confident, snarky AI saving Siv Gendin and his friends’ bacon on a regular basis, Silky worked with his first human companion, Eyana Ora, an Empathic Services agent.

This was the mission where it all began. Two centuries before the Fall of the Benevolence.

A simple covert mission to spy on the Krixis, a telepathic alien race, turns into a desperate bid to save mankind when Silky and Eyana uncover a plot to use a secret super-weapon. But the weapon, a lost piece of ancient technology, holds secrets that neither side expected - secrets that will reshape humanity’s future.

Good Space Opera

Loved this book . Well written and a fantastic narrator. In the best space opera traditions.

Came for Peter Kenny, stayed for Silky!

Peter Kenny's excellent performance of the Witcher books brought this book series to my attention. I'm a lifelong Sci Fi fan and this is one of the very best book series that I've ever experienced. Once Silky has gotten into your head, you'll know why.

Speedy narration!

An interesting introduction to the series, and I'll probably follow up. However, I had to reduce the narration speed to 80% to be able to follow the story - his speech at normal speed sounds like a 45 being played at 78 (for those of a certain age)!

A fantastic series beautifully narrated.

I really enjoyed this whole series. I'm a big fan of Peter Kenny so thought I would give this series a try as I've loved his work with other authors. Well, what a treat! A fantastic series that left me eager to get started on the next instalment. I am hoping there will be another after Fallen Souls as I'm not ready for it to end! This series and its characters are brought to life by the fantastic narration by Peter Kenny. It is obvious by his amazing enthusiasm for the books and its characters that you can tell he just loves what he does. His use of accents makes following individual characters so easy and you can't help but become attached to them as you follow them on their journey. And who couldn't love the cheeky and charismatic Silky. I highly recommend this whole series, especially to those that love a good space opera.

Decent story well performed. Minor tech issue

Peter Kenny does his usual clear and distinctive performance. Not his fault, but the speed was set too fast and had to be slowed to 6
80%.

The story itself bounces back and forwards between an empathic spy and an archaeologist. The action is well written and mostly enjoyable. I also liked that the empathy skills were not the main plot. Some authors write psychic skills as magic. Not this book.

I dropped a star because the AI companions implants were just too useful. A regular high tech Swiss Amy Knife

Short

Felt a little shortened and a bolt on. Enjoyed the series on the whole and Peter Kenny is a joy as ever
