Strange and unusual but interesting

Having only ever read or listened to Robin Alexander's comedy romance novels, which I usually love, this came as a surprise. I am not fond of fantasy on the whole but this story is interesting, well plotted and well written. Also, the main characters are well considered and likeable, so I got into it and enjoyed listening to the end.

Unfortunately one drawback to the audiobook is the narrator IMO. She's not bad but has quite a middle-aged sounding voice with a strong accent that definitely is not from the South of the US, where the story is set so her voice does not match the story or the characters. Also, when narrating dialogue she did not change her voice to match the character who was speaking, which made for confusion at times. This is a shame because a more appropriate sounding narrator could raise this audiobook to another level.

It might be better to read this book rather than listen to it.

Nerve wracking, intriguing and Lacey

I love Robin Alexander but this is not her best story yet it's still a great listen. The narrator changes the voices just enough but doesn't hinder the story. I have all of this authors books and a happily waiting for the audible versions to come out.

beautiful story

A heartwarming story of love that stands the test of time. It did make me cry a lot, both tears of sadness and joy. Absolutely enjoyed listening to this story.
