Summary
Giving up sugar right before Halloween. Brilliant.
Going on vacation with an ex. Not so bright.
Honey and her ex-husband, Max, travel to Sapphire Falls to give their two young children the perfect Halloween treat. Max wants Honey back, and he’s counting on the magic of Sapphire Falls to seduce her into a second chance.
Honey is leery of Max and his tricks, but when he woos her with a Halloween romance complete with bonfires, hayrides, parties, and paintball, Honey warms to the idea of a new beginning.
Unfortunately, there's something off about Max on which Honey can't put her finger. When their vacation goes haywire, Honey must decide whether the treat of true love is worth all the terrible tricks life can play.
The My Country Hearts series is a light-hearted, heart-warming series of romances set in Erin Nicholas' Sapphire Falls world (made available by special license). Enjoy the stories in order or out of order. They are stand-alone and fun either way.

Halloween Romance
This is out just in the knick of time for a great Halloween listen! Rachelle Ayala takes us to Sapphire Falls with her latest audiobook and it's full of thrills, passionate trists and emotional turmoil giving us a hauntingly good book. Honey and her two kids go to Sapphire Falls to see her ex-husband Max and have a Halloween to remember. Little does she know what Max is up to. He wants Honey back, and has the weekend filled with all the things she loves...romance, massage, time to meet authors and talk about her book as well as time with the kids. But is this enough? Honey is still in love with her Max, but there are some things happening that make her hesitant. What comes to light is surprising, and will their love be enough? Rachelle Ayala is an author I love to listen to. She always writes great romances, but there is always a message in the book. This one is something everyone can relate to, and it's full of faith, love and understanding. Another winner, and I can't wait til we get Christmas in Sapphire Falls with Going Toe to Mistletoe!
Books like this are narrated to perfection by the team of Tor Thom and Charley Ongel. I love books that are emotionally charged and performed by a team with chemistry. These two give this book all the feelings that this misguided couple is having and through their words, you can feel the pain, love and hope. It's a wonderful narration.

Modern Romance with a Halloween Twist
What I enjoy about Rachelle Ayala's books is that she writes modern romances with a purpose that takes the stories to the next level. She always makes the story seem like it will be frivolous and light but then the real issues come up and the story takes on a deeper hue.
This story is no exception but I don't want to write any more incase I give something away. Suffice it to say Max and Honey are divorced. They have returned to his hometown with their children to enjoy the family holiday amidst the local Halloween traditions. Between the ghouls, vampires and zombies, they realise their love for each other never really died. Sounds idealistic and over simplified, doesn't it? This is where the Rachelle Ayala's brand of magic comes in. For her characters there is always room for growth, love, acceptable and self awareness. There is always an issue that can make or break the story. And there is always a HEA.
As usual, I enjoyed the feel-good part of the book. There is a little of everything: sexual chemistry, family, community, struggle and love conquering all!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
