Top Form

Intriguing, loveable, entertaining characters dealing with real world tragedy and problems in a heart warming way. This is on par with earlier works
I can't believe other reviewers didn't enjoy the narration I think that the author is perfect for reading her own work

Love it!

Grown Ups is a fantastic audiobook and I loved that the Author Marian Keyes was reading it. Best entertainment with lots of empathy. Like a little holiday for the brain. Devastated now that I've finished it because leaves a big void. Thanks a million!

Great book for an easy listen

It was wonderful that the author narrated this book. All Irish words and names were pronounced correctly! And there was no over use of the word 'grand' and no using it out of context which happens all of the time with non Irish authors writing Irish stories. The story itself was so sweet and interesting. The story lines of all the couples were relatable, I'm sure, to many people. A great book from Marian Keyes.

Shear bliss

I have always loved Marian Keyes. This is the 1st book of hers that I listened to instead of reading myself. What a lovely book which was made more fabulous because Marian narrated the story herself. Thank you Marian for your amazing books, here’s to many more 😊❤️💚

I devoured this book!

And now I’m in mourning for the characters, I miss them! Which is always how Marion Keyes novels make me feel. I was nervous that Marion was narrating this book herself, after reading the reviews and when I first started to listen to it, I panicked! We are used to listening to clipped, clear tones reading us our audio books, so when we hear that Irish Lilt and all the names she throws at us in the first chapter, we panick, but a couple of chapters in I realised that only Marion could narrate a Marion book and I am so glad she did! Bare with it, you will get to know all the charters, Marion will bring them alive, it’s what she does best...No it hasn’t got a massive plot twist and No ones dramatically gets murdered but this book had me literally laughing out loud, while on my own...and who does that really? But I was, and I loved the story and the realmess of the characters and how relatable they are and the story lines. This book had me sneaking off to listen to it...taking extra long baths and laughing with delight! I adore you Marion. Ps. I hardly write reviews, but I had to for this book.

Grown Up

Really loved this. So much so, I bought the audible and the hard back. I love Marian Keyes' early work (Rachel's Holiday being a favourite) but I'm really enjoying the subtle maturity of her newer work. Like The Break, Grown Ups feels just that - grown up.
The characters are brought to life by Marian's narration and are multi dimensional and 'real' feeling. Having the author narrate the book helps the reader understand the true intention of the words. Bossy officious Bridey is hilarious and unexpectedly kind at points. It's hard to pick a favourite character as they're so well rounded and perfectly imperfect. My favourite moment though...The murder mystery. I was in raptures. Hilarious.

Good storyline but poor narration

Not keen on Marian Keyes narration. The lines ran into each other on occasion, or there was too big a gap between sentences that should have flowed. Storyline kept me going as it is, after all, Marian Keyes.... great humour and characters to either love or hate. Just couldn’t get past the narration which lowered the rating....

Good story, not keen on narrator

Although I enjoyed the book and everyone’s stories I’m afraid the narration left a lot to be desired. I had hoped that the author would be a good narrator, but in my opinion it would have been better read by someone like Aoife Macmahon

Enjoyable

Good family saga although I found it difficult to remember who was married to who and which family the children belonged to. By the end I think I had worked it out will have to listen to it again in a few months time.
Marian Keyes reads it beautifully.
