Summary

It's got a thunderstorm in it. And revenge. Definitely revenge.

Felix is at the top of his game as artistic director of the Makeshiweg Theatre Festival. His productions have amazed and confounded. Now he's staging a Tempest like no other: not only will it boost his reputation, it will heal emotional wounds. Or that was the plan.

Instead, after an act of unforeseen treachery, Felix is living in exile in a backwoods hovel, haunted by memories of his beloved lost daughter, Miranda. And brewing revenge.

After 12 years revenge finally arrives in the shape of a theatre course at a nearby prison. Here Felix and his inmate actors will put on his Tempest and snare the traitors who destroyed him. It's magic! But will it remake Felix as his enemies fall?

Margaret Atwood's novel take on Shakespeare's play of enchantment, revenge and second chances leads us on an interactive, illusion-ridden journey filled with new surprises and wonders of its own.

One of the best books ever, a must have for all

A very thrilling and spell-binding new take on Shakespeare 's The Tempest, especially valuable for teachers thinking of putting the play on stage

Excellent!

Beautifully narrated. This is an outstanding retelling of The Tempest. I only wish she would re-write Shakepeare’s other plays too!

A Work of Art

Atwood does it again! I could not stop listening and gobbled this book up in one sitting. She creates a world of magic and wonder that completely absorbed me. I was near to tears all the way through - I can't really explain why. Perhaps it was just the beauty of it all.

If you are familiar with The Tempest, you will see it in every word. If you aren't, you will want to be. It's one of my favourite Shakespeare plays: his beautiful farewell to theatre. Atwood more than does it justice.

I don't want to say much about the plot - it's The Tempest, but it's not - you should just let the magic unfold. Be confident that you will feel profound affection for Felix and his Goblins by the end.

I always feel like Mararet Atwood is more than a writer. Her books have a power beyond their pages. You will be a better person after reading.
