Summary

Hail to the Dragon Slayer is Arthur A. "Buddy" Lemann's memoir of a life of criminal law practice in New Orleans, America's most unique city. Buddy was born in Donaldsonville, LA, the scion of a sugar plantation family. For one too many acts of "youthful exuberance", he was sent, some would say sentenced, to Marion Military Academy in Marion, AL. In 1964, he received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University. He attended Loyola University Law School where he was editor in chief of the Law Review and ultimately received a master of laws from George Washington University. Buddy's criminal law practice spans almost 50 years of some of the most difficult and sensational cases in the history of the American criminal justice system. His client list includes reputed Mafia Don "Carlos" Marccello, Father Dino Cines, the notorious priest accused of trafficking in child pornography, and a host of other colorful and compelling clients.

Hail to the Dragon Slayer is appealing to lawyers and people in law enforcement and the administration of criminal justice, fans of true crime and pulp fiction, persons interested in the far-flung reaches of the Jewish diaspora, and cognoscenti of the Southern literary tradition.
