Anton Kuh, 1890 in Wien geboren, geprägt vom deutsch-jüdischen Prag, gestorben 1941 in New York. Er lebte für das Wort, lebte vom Tagesjournalismus und war doch ein Dichter und Literat. Von Psychoanalyse, Pazifismus und den verschiedensten, nie beendeten Studien geprägt, durchschaute und kommentierte er oft mit wenigen Sätzen das Geschehen und die Menschen seiner Zeit. Unermüdlich sprach und schrieb er, ein erbitterter Gegner von Gewalt und Tyrannei, gegen den Zerfall der Demokratie, gegen Kriegsgefahr und Faschismus. Kuh veröffentlichte nur sechs Bücher, doch sie machten ihn zum "unsterblichen Österreicher".
