Summary
“Luke” Hamilton has been living as a husband and father for the past 17 years. No one but her wife, Nora, knows she is not the man she appears to be. They have raised their daughters to become honest and hard-working young women, but even with their loving foundation, Amy and Nattie are hiding their own secrets.
Just as Luke sets out on a dangerous trip to Fort Boise, a newcomer arrives on the ranch - Rika Aaldenberg, who traveled to Oregon as a mail-order bride, hiding that she’s not the woman in the letters.
When hidden truths are revealed, will their lives and their family fall apart or will love keep them together?

FANTASTIC 💖
❤ I LOVE THIS. ❤
This is such a beautiful touching story of how women survived the hardships of life in the wild west. It is a romance that I loved every minute of it and I wanted The HAPPY EVER AFTER. I grew up watching cowboy movies, I wish I had this story then, but I am so glad I have it now. It's brilliant.
Excellent narration a joy to listen to.

The Perfect Sequel
It’s rare to enjoy a sequel as much as the original book, but Hidden Truths follows on so seamlessly from Backwards To Oregon it feels like an old friend. The writing is so skillful the story feels as if it has been crafted like one of Luke’s wooden figures on Amy’s shelves. The characters are beautifully drawn and superbly brought to life by Hayden Bishop’s performance. There is enough angst and tension to sustain the listener’s attention until the end. A slow burn about the enduring power of love and truth.

Another superb book from Jae
I love this series and I hope Jae will add more books to it. It would make a really good romantic tv series and has plenty of adventure, especially as it challenges bigotry. I feel sad to have come to the end of this book....

As good as the first
So often when you read a follow up novel, it isn’t quite as good as the first book. This one certainly is - I loved both books from start to finish.

I love this book
I listened to the first book (Backwards to Oregon) first then this one straight after. The details and descriptions are written beautifully and I loved the stories.
My only complaint is the narrators unnatural paused mid sentence and her mispronunciation of cavalry! (She kept saying ‘calvery’!)
Overall though, I really liked the book.

Love conkers all
This series is so sweet and loving.
I’m so glad times have changed. How hard it must of been for these women.
But to have a loving family to help you through anything is so amazing.
I love Jae’s books and again she has done an amazing story.
I’m off to read the next in the series.
Thank you Jae

Another favourite of mine.
This is the sequel to 'Backwards to Oregon '. However, there is one tiny reference to a short story (the name of the short story collection eludes me at the moment), in the accompanying short story collection that is relevant to this story. That said, you don't need to read the short story to understand the reference.
I first got this book as a Kindle version
Like the first story, I was thrilled to see it in the Audible catalogue.
It's well researched, well developed, and has you wanting the happy ever after both the main characters are hoping for, if for totally different reasons to start with.
It was also lovely to have Tess included in a more tangible way.
I didn't mind the narrator, I think she actually did a better job on this book than the first one.
If I want a couple of books to lose myself in, these two are some of my go-to escape novels.

All types of amazing
This story (and it’s prequel backwards to Oregon) is just unreal. The emotions that the characters go though where gut wrenching. I loved finding out what had happened to Luke and Nora from the 1st book in this series but the star of the show was Amy. What a journey she went on. Jae makes you feel all the anxiety and anguish that she goes through. I was there with her and had tears in my eyes and my chest hurt. I loved watching Dr Quinn when I was younger and I still watch it now when I get the chance, the settings in this book remind me very much of that tv series so I couldn’t help picturing the ranch house as the same one in the show.
Jae is a marvel at portraying characters romantic feelings, desires and anguish. There’s not a book of hers I’ve read that I haven’t come away from feeling battered by emotions but totally happy sighing with the ending (even if I still always want more)
The narrator did a good job. I enjoyed her voices for the characters and she portrayed the emotions well. The only reason I haven’t given her 5 stars is because she tends to pause in the wrong places. But even with that I don’t think another narrator would do because I fell in love with Amy’s voice in this audio.
Fabulous book that I’d highly recommend and I will definitely be listening to the series again
