Summary

Following his brutish father's death, young Danny Conway strives to rescue the family farm from ruin. When all seems hopeless, help comes from the most unexpected quarter. A story of grief and trying to cope with loss, but also of resilience in the face of family tragedy. No one knows the minutiae of country life as Alice Taylor does, and again she displays her unique ability to capture its rhythms and cadences.

Critic reviews

'House of Memories shows [Taylor] in her prime as a novelist.' (Irish Independent)
'It is Alice Taylor's strength to make the natural everyday world come alive in clear fresh prose. In this book, as in her memoirs, she does so beautifully.' (The Irish Book Review)

House of memories

I love this book. It was a satisfying conclusion to the Mossgrove trilogy although it was also very moving. Wonderful narration brought it vividly to life.

beautiful emotional story

Another beautiful story written as on Alice Taylor can do.. she makes you feel like you know each character personally and you can feel their joy and pain as it happens.. taken back to harder but more simpler times when people has less but done all they could to help each other survive.
