A Great Book Guiding towards Love
With her sweet voice, Leslie guides the soul to a journey of self-discovery and hence self-love.
I have known Leslie through her blog about two years ago when I was at a low point in my life. I’ve known her through a post on TinyBuddha and then followed her blog. Leslie’s writings have always come as soothing, enchanting, timely, and to the point. It has always touched my heart and melted the ice and pain I used to feel. It never disappointed.
How to Have Your Back is another level of Leslie’s writings. It takes the reader from being passively receiving to actively engaging with the questions and the practices. It is a course on self-love in a book or an audiobook narrated by her sweet calming voice.
I highly recommend the book especially to those who are in a self-discovery journey although as a personal preference I would prefer the paper book over the audio book.

This Book Will Change You
This book is a combination of poetic prose and therapeutic exercises that will change your life. Dr. Ralph has created a treasure.
If you do the exercises with your whole mind and heart, this book will change your relationship with yourself, and by extension, your relationship with others. I considered "self-love" so abstract and slippery, and I knew I needed help with it. This book made it concrete and practical. The exercises are specific and effective. These are clearly created by a professional healer with training, while giving you the feeling that you're having coffee with your poetic best friend cheerleading you through a new path to greater self-love.
The audio version is great way to develop that loving inner voice (I can literally hear her coach me through difficult times now), but I found the organization confusing without also having the paper copy. I recommend getting both the paper copy to actually work through the exercises and better understand the layout, and the audio for inner voice training.
There were phrases within the prose/poetry sections that hit home so deeply for me that I have underlines and stars all over my paper copy, not just in the writing exercises. I am using those sections as meditations to help me explore and connect to deeper layers of myself.
I usually read/listen to books very quickly, but this book felt more like a personal growth workbook filled with meditations and exercises that I will be working on for a while.
