About this listen

Did you know:

  • that drinking a glass of red wine after sunbathing can reduce lasting skin damage?
  • that your choice of deodorant can affect your long-term health?
  • that some houseplants are more effective in removing air toxins than others?

In How to Live, Professor Robert Thomas, one of Britain's leading oncologists and an expert in integrating nutritional and lifestyle strategies into cancer treatment, gives us effective, scientifically proven advice about everything from diet and exercise to sleep and skincare.

As Thomas explains, through achievable changes to our daily routine we can improve the expression of our genes - helping us beat the odds of cancer and chronic disease. We discover, for example, why drinking a glass of red wine after sunbathing can reduce lasting skin damage; and why some houseplants are more effective than others in removing air toxins.

This is a health bible for life. Whether you are in your 20s or 70s, it will help you to empower your body against ageing and degenerative disease and live at maximum strength.

It's very interesting

I've read this several times now (well listened) and I would recommend it. I think it's straight forward and clear.

There are some interesting sections on why dieting does not work. Good section on exercise.

I think this could be helpful if I could concentrate and learn to like good food.

How to live

I found this book very interesting especially as it’s a British based Professional and at time of writing is new and has references to COVID-19.
A bit deep on the science in places but bare with it, some startling facts, how’d have thought the worst crisps were sweet chilli flavour.
I’ve read loads of plant based books including The China Survey and Whole. This is very supportive of plant based eating but does include the positive nutrition from meat in small quantities twice a week.
All in all a good listen and interestingly read. We recommend.

An excellent book with clear chapters you can dip in and out of. The qualifications of the author are reassuring when listening to lifestyle advice. The best book i have listened to on how to live a healthy life. Highly recommend this.

Simply brilliant

A must read for everyone. This book has so much helpful information to help you live a long and healthy life. Really liked the narration too, as a British person it’s refreshing to have a British person reading it 😊

So dull I cant tell why.

My favourite subject ruined.
I love reading about current development and research on health, but this was a wasted credit.
I cant honestly tell if its the narrator or book.
