About this listen
Did you know you’re likely to have had over 89,000 heated altercations with your closest relations before you reached the age of eight?
By age 16, thousands more hours will have been spent by most of us in some form of disagreement with those in our extended social networks.
As a species, we’re well practiced at falling out with each other. We may even have a gene for it – certainly, some of us seem to be gifted.
When it comes to finding resolutions, however, things don’t come quite so naturally: As much as 90 percent of all inter-personal conflicts never reach agreement.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
I Don’t Agree is a fascinating exploration of new, powerful, and surprising solutions to an ancient problem: why we disagree so much. It shows how to sidestep our animosities and get great things done, despite our differences.
Underpinned by cutting-edge research and academic thinking (as well as fascinating real-life case studies and easy-to-use tools), author and marketeer Michael Brown reveals the eye-opening secrets that can lead to better leadership, stronger teams, swifter promotions, more effective collaboration, better organisational culture – as well as radically improving your life outside of work.

Brilliant, couldn’t stop listening!
This book has entered into my list of must-reads, and I will be recommending this to everyone I know.
It’s so relatable, and it really makes you look at the world through a different lens. It was so insightful to follow Michael’s journey through his own experiences of conflicts and resolutions. But he also underpinned this book with a lot of research and input from professionals in this field too.
I do a lot of reading in areas of self development but conflict wasn’t a topic that I had thought much of until now. I can already identify so many sticking points in my life that I could have navigated through much more smoothly if I had had this book to guide me and give me the perspective I needed.
I will be reading this book again at some point to keep it fresh and at the forefront of my mind.
What a great read / listen.

Incredibly insightful
A fantastic listen!
Although my career has so far not brought me into contact with office or boardroom politics, this book has opened my eyes to many aspects of my professional and personal life I would have not normally paid attention to.
As an educator, musician and father of 3 young children I am very aware of the frequent conflict that exists in our world, Michael Brown's insight into the nature of conflict has certainly helped me understand (and better cope with!) day to day conflicts we all encounter.
No matter your personal or career background I can throughly recommend this book - I will certainly be directing my students to this title.

Wasn't expecting to love this so much!
I picked up this book as a professional and with a view of it helping me professionally, but this book is for everyone. Conflict, painful and destructive as it can be, is all around us and getting us nowhere. This book really couldn't be more timely in that respect which makes it all the more resonant and engaging. What is also great about this book is that the intelligent, thought provoking analysis of our human tendencies won't come as a huge shock (for those of us who are relatively self aware any way). Some of it we know deep down but this book articulates it for us, provides the science for us and verbalizes it in an entirely relatable way. I am enjoying the self reflection this book is inspiring and I know that when I am done reading it I will want to enlighten everyone who hasn't! Highly recommend it.
