Summary

Im Januar 1945 wird das ehemalige Kraft-durch-Freude-Kreuzfahrtschiff "Wilhelm Gustloff" mit Tausenden von Flüchtlingen und Soldaten an Bord von den Torpedos eines sowjetischen U-Boots versenkt, fünf- bis neuntausend Menschen finden in der eisigen Ostsee den Tod. Eine der Überlebenden des Grauens ist die hochschwangere Tulla Pokriefke aus Danzig. Ihr in jener Nacht geborener Sohn Paul macht fünfzig Jahre später die erschreckende Entdeckung, dass die Geschichte eine ihn unmittelbar betreffende Fortsetzung hat.
