Summary

Discover the second of the two masterful hit novels adapted for the massive BBC One Drama series In The Dark, featuring brilliant heroine Helen Weeks - continuing from number one bestseller Time of Death.

A rainy night in London. Shots are fired into a car which swerves on to the pavement, ploughing into a bus stop. It seems that a chilling gang initiation has cost an innocent victim their life. But the reality is far more sinister...

One life is wiped out and three more are changed forever: the young man whose finger was on the trigger; an ageing gangster planning a deadly revenge, and the pregnant woman who struggles desperately to uncover the truth. Two weeks away from giving birth, how will she deal with a world where death is an occupational hazard?

In a city where violence can be random or meticulously planned, where teenage gangs clash with career criminals and where loyalty is paid for in blood, anything is possible. Secrets are uncovered as fast as bodies, and the story's final twist is as breathtakingly surprising as they come.

The hugely acclaimed latest novel in Mark Billingham's bestselling series, Love Like Blood, is out now.

addictive listen, brilliantly read.

Addictive read, narrator was superb, Mark Billingham at his best, frustrated by ending, need reassurance Helen came through.

Not bad

For me the story was okay, though I much prefer his more recent books. The narrators accents were truly awful, actually embarrassing and very very annoying, to the point they detracted from the story as I was bracing myself for the next onslaught for my ears, without the attempt at accent the narration was great.

In The Dark

After seeing the author live at a literary festival, I decided to give his books a whirl. I really enjoyed this engrossing tale of pregnant DC Helen Weeks and her complicated home life, allied with a slice of south-east London gun culture.

The narrator was varied and extremely talented.

Well worth a listen; I have bought more on the strength of this novel.

Not the best Billingham I’ve read.

I was disappointed with this book it’s as dark and hopeless as it is unbelievable. If the idea was to keep the reader guessing it didn’t work for me . It was obvious who the culprit was and although the how was quite novel it was way too implausible. As for Helen the antics of a soon to pop woman were ridiculous. I did like the narrator though for me she kept me listening to the end.

listened to the whole book over a couple of days, nearly gave up on it, glad I didn't, well researched, all absorbing read.

Strange abrupt ending

Feel as though there’s a bit missing at the end of this book very odd
