Summary

Houston, Texas. Cowboy boots, baseball and journeys to the stars…. right? Wrong. Because Houston is also home to Jabril Karim, one of the eight powerful Vampire Lords who control all of North America and, as Private Investigator Cynthia Leighton will soon discover, not all Vampire Lords are created equal. Jabril is the face of evil in the new world, a vampire who values no life but his own, who enslaves those he desires, steals whatever he covets, and destroys anyone who stands in his way.

Running from L.A. and its seductive Vampire Lord, Raphael, Cyn sees the Houston job as a welcome refuge, a place to get away and heal her broken heart. But Texas will be no vacation. Cyn will confront a true enemy in Jabril, one who will go to any lengths to satisfy his lusts, enrich his coffers, and expand his power.

Fighting for the lives of two young sisters, Cyn's journey will take her through the streets of Houston and back to L.A., where the human police are determined to bring Raphael down for the murder of one of their own. But the danger doesn't end there.

Jabril has set his sights on Cyn, and he will stop at nothing to have her.

Can

This book was more about Cyn than any of the vamps from book one. The moral of this story don’t take a job in a huff after you split from boyfriend.

Good read, worth its credit

The story continues. This book can be read as a stand alone but it does follow on precisely from book one 'Raphael: Vampires In America'.

As seen in book one, Cyn is a strong heroine and is able to fight her own battles. She stands head to head with Raphael both strongly attracted to each other and learning how to manage a relationship of equals.

Cyn as a private investigator takes on a case in Houston Texas where Jabril Karim, a very nasty piece of work, is the vamp in charge. Cyn takes it upon herself to rescue a beaten and downtrodden young female vamp.

The escape scene is very strong and kept the tension high, so did the scenes with Cyn trapped in the boot of the car. I also loved the scene with Raphael and Cyn in the woodland for a totally different reason. The book is well paced and enjoyable.

Cyn is awesome! great read.

I loved it. it's basically part 2 of Cyn and Raphaels story.

I couldn't wait to find time to listen to the book. it's exciting and the story just flows.

It's a romance but it's more than that too thanks to Cyn and how awesome she is at her job. In this book she has been hired to find a missing girl, which takes her to Jabrils territory.

Jabril, omg his horrid - sorry for spoilers there but he is!

Raphael, yep him the head vamp is very caring, and considerate, and yes sexy and I really was rooting for the two of them through the story.

if you're looking for a good story, romance and action, this is a book for you - but you need to read Raphael first.
