About this listen

After his sudden rise to power in the summer of 2019 amid the Brexit deadlock, Boris Johnson presided over the most dramatic period of British history in almost a century. From the controversial prorogation of Parliament in August 2019 to the historic landslide victory later that year, the agonising upheaval of Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic—and the scandals unleashed by both—the Afghanistan crisis, and the conflict in Ukraine, Johnson's premiership was more turbulent than any other in living memory.

This gripping work of contemporary history maps Johnson's time in power across ten decisive moments and sheds light on the most divisive and inscrutable prime minister since Margaret Thatcher. Based on major interviews with key aides and allies, Anthony Seldon and Raymond Newell give the first full account of Boris Johnson's explosive time in office.

Johnson has left the building

Excellent book and extremely well narrated, it explains in remarkable detail all of what many have been thinking especially his lazy slap dash ways.
I hope nobody like this passes through the door to number 10 again

We knew it was bad but…..

Brilliant! Nails the whole sorry mess down. Brexit calamity: the hubris of a supreme egoist.

Gripping if stomach churning at times

Great story well read and very interesting to the point of being unputdownable. Some of it seems terrible when you remember it really happened. Anyone with even a passing interest should listen to this.

Shocker

Great book
Recent history sadly explained.
I cannot believe we have all lived through such recent hardship and nonsense misled by pure narcissistic ineptitude

Johnson at 10

An interesting insight into the other side of politics. How did this man get away with what he did first so long?
To me he was in “Boris Land” and once elected was untouchable.

Politicians not just in Westminster has its own rules.

It seems all that matters is climbing the greasy pole for your advancement.

If they the (politicians) more time sorting out the Uk ‘s problems our lives would be so much better.

As for Boris what did we expect he was already known for his life style, poor leadership and not taking advice from anyone.

What a shambles the country is left in and “Boris at 10” tells you this very openly.

In all a good read to much time in my view is spent on naming the key characters in the beginning. It seems to go on and on.

Yet I am glad I stayed with the book maybe it should be renamed “How not to be a Prime Minister”

Very good

Recent history but with much more background and insight makes this a very good book. There is so much to absorb - especially all the names and roles (which rapidly change) that I think I would prefer to read it hard copy.
I kind of agree with comments about the slightly “put on” narration (one or two giveaways eg “twennyone” slips through), but I didn’t mind it. What I found off-putting is that quite regularly a new paragraph is read as if part of the previous one, when it’s actually about someone different and I often had to rewind.

Thorough and detailed

Ignore reviews complaining about narration, thought it was performed very well. Good book with plenty of detail.

Superb history and performance

My first book by Seldon and won't be my last. Clear, wonderfully well-organised, and paints a man within the context of his life, his situation, and his potential. a fascinating and totally engaging audio "read".
