About this listen

Roo:

Five years ago, I walked away from Sunbury, Oregon, and left my best friend behind. The move was supposed to get my life on track. I even had a list: Life-changing epilepsy surgery. Check. See the world. Check. Get over my straight best friend... Not exactly.

No matter where I go or who I meet, I can't let Tanner go. I'm back to tell him how I feel. To get the closure I need once and for all. Only now I'm here and falling for him all over again, it's getting harder to say the words. Because once I have my closure, I'll be gone. And this time it will be for good.

Tanner:

When my best friend, Roo, left for Australia, it was the worst day of my life. I thought we'd have each other always. But Roo needed the surgery so I let him go, thinking he'd come straight back. Five years is a long time.

Now he's here, all I want is to hold on tight. I need to show him what he means to me. The problem is, I'm not exactly sure what that is. My draw to him has always been confusing and different - everyone in town says so. But I struggle to understand it. All I know is I won't survive him leaving again. And I'll do anything to make him stay.

Contains mature themes.

Sweet and wholesome

I’m a big fan of friends to lovers, so I was bound to enjoy this story 😊 what I’m not a fan of is miscommunication, and that whole drama of “if I tell him how I feel I’ll ruin our friendship”, it seems to be a common way for writters to prolong the story without adding plot…
That said, it’s all a matter of expectations, and when I read (or listen) to romance, as long as the book keeps me happy and entertained, I’m ok with no plot 😁
The narrators aren’t my favourite, but they’re good enough

Nothing special, poor audio

The story was as all romance stories go. It is hard to find quality but at least I finished this one.
The audio at times was unacceptable. At several points the errors were not deleted, resulting in both the error and the correct sentence read out loud. At one point there was a stretch of silence.
Cendese could have done better performing quotes as the author directed in his text. And both narrators did not sync their interpretations of the voices. The same characters were very, very different between both narrators.

Over all I didn’t hate it.

It was an alright book. I felt like it could have used a little something to make it more interesting. To be honest I’m not sure what, I never felt like I really connected with it.

I’m not a huge fan of Kirt Graves but adore Alexander Cendese.

Beautiful story

I loved these characters and was glued to listening to this book. I really enjoyed this beautiful story that was funny and had a perfect HEA. Don’t let the creepy man child cover put you off. Highly doubt your imagination will see that lad, mine saw men.

Amazing narration 🎙

Alexander and Kirt did an awesome job on this.
Anything Saxon writes is an automatic read/listen for me, Roo and Tanner are adorable together, even before they're actually together. A real sweet read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The intensity of emotions

Two men speak through internal monologues. What emerges is their love for one another which has spanned over time. A sensitive, and at erotically told story.

Great start to the series

I loved the stories, childhood friends to lovers is always swoony, but especially when there’s sarcasm, one bed and good disability rep.

Performances were great.

3.5⭐️

Tanner & Roo (Royce to everyone but Tanner) have been friends since they met at 11 years old when Roo moved to Tanners small town from Australia. Roo is epileptic and as they grow up his epilepsy becomes so severe and frequent that just as they are graduating high-school Roos parents decide to move back to Australia so he can undergo surgery in the hopes it will help lessen his symptoms. Tanner & Roo have always been super close and not afraid to show each other physical affection by hugging, holding hands, sharing a bed etc and were bullied and presumed to be a couple because of it. Turns out Roo did have feelings for Tanner so distances himself over the next 5 years before returning for a visit where he plans on finally telling Tanner how he feels about him in the hopes it will help him move past his loving his straight best friend, but his return sparks unknown desires and feelings in Tanner and he refuses to lose his best friend again without a fight.

These two were just adorable and I had a smile on my face throughout pretty much the whole book, the story is simple, low angst, funny, but full of heart and feelings. The way these two fumble around each other and are afraid to open up and admit their feelings because the thought of losing the other is so painful, they are oblivious to what they mean to each other & Tanner especially takes a while to understand his own feelings for Roo when it has been blatantly obvious to everyone else. I had a fun time reading this, Kirt Graves & Alexander Cendese were a joy to listen to. 🌶🌶

Perfect

I loved it!
Both characters are likable, dreamy, funny, and authentic. I adored how this book wasn't about how being gay feels bad or wrong and doubtful and needed to be hidden, but it was pure love and trust. just how all types of love should be.
This book will make you believe in soulmates and how friendship can make you achieve everything you set to do.

As for the narrators... Alex was excellent!!! But Kirt was horrific... he seemed bored, unattached, slow, and just plain wrong. So terrible it almost made me stop hearing.
