About this listen

Jeremy M. Dunn III has the single dad thing down, so the last thing he wants to do is call his ex-husband to ask for help with their two kids. They didn’t part on good terms, and they’ve barely spoken since the divorce. But with a cast on his arm that goes up past his elbow, Jeremy has no choice. He needs a few days to figure out how to bathe their daughter, make school lunches, and parent their son one-armed, and there isn’t anyone else he can ask for help.

Former rodeo cowboy West Belen was already on his way back to his kids, and to Trey (“the third”, his nickname for Jeremy). He made a promise to try again, and he means to keep it, so when he sees his chance to move back into his family’s life, he grabs it like the brass ring he knows it is. He’s determined to be more than an “every other weekend” dad to his children, and he doesn’t want to keep on living with regret about how he and Trey ended.

Jeremy still desires West, but he isn’t sure he can trust West to be responsible and available. West still thinks Trey is the hottest thing he’s ever seen, but he has no idea how to convince the man he’s ready to settle down. The two of them have never had trouble butting heads, but now they need to learn to work together to make a home for themselves and their kids where they both belong.

Second chance

The book was easy to listen to and there was no angst. Jeremy and West are divorced and when Jeremy is out for health reasons, he asks West to help him with the kids.

I can't quantify exactly why, but Jeremy wasn't that sympathetic to me. I probably didn't always like his attitude. If you take his marriage as an example, he knew about West's job from the beginning.

West, on the other hand, was more sympathetic to me, who after the divorce had to deal not only with the loss of his family, but also the loss of his best friend, who was more like a father to him. And now he is ready to get his family back

It was beautifully described how the two of them grew closer again.

The writing style is easy-going, the story was good to listen to, and I liked the adorable kids Luke and Ava. However, at one point or another I wondered why the MCs reacted the way they did, because I didn't always understand their motivation for acting the way they did.

John Solo narrated the audio book and he did a good job as usual. You could distinguish the protagonists well and he also portrayed the emotions well on the whole. At some points I thought he spoke a tad too softly.

If you like listning to a sweet family story about second chances, this is the book for you.

Rodeo Dad MM Romance

Rodeo Dad MM Romance

Separated dads, Jeremy/Tre and West, handling child care between them until Jeremy has an accident and needs help.

Easy to listen to story, very low angst.

John Solo did a great job, as usual, narrating this book; however, like normal, I did speed up this audio on Audible to 1.20.

Cowboy meets his ocd ex again

Author Jodi Payne, BA Tortuga
Overall I enjoyed this audiobook the narration was easily recognizable as a John Solo performance. 🎧 4
The story was well layed out and was happy to learn things worked out when the mc's grabbed their second chance. I however found that Jeremey/ Trey was not so sympathetic, rather very demanding and his way or the highway attitude annoyed me at times. Also how the shared custody was arranged irked me, he knew he married a cowboy on the rodeo circuit. I also felt he came across as having not much personal insight as opposed to West, a former rodeo cowboy, who made major changes and had gone through tremendous personal growth after the divorce, an accident an losing his best friend/ father figure. A major minus for him was that he showed a major preference,it is literally spelled out for his bio daughter as opposed to his son.
If you can overlook the quirks mention or if tbey don't bother you you are in for a well plotted book with a sweet famy who find their way back to eachother. 📚
