Summary

Abbie Devereaux wakes in the dark, hooded and bound.

She doesn't know where she is nor who it is feeding her, talking to her, threatening to kill her. Yet Abbie has courage and, above all, hope. She escapes her captor and runs back into the light. But the real world, the safe one, isn't as she remembers it. Nasty

Quite a nasty beginning, with an air of menace throughout. But the train journey passed quite quickly.

Riveting nightmare of a story

I listened to all of the over three hours of recording in one session and was absolutely engrossed by the pace and content of the nightmarish story. It's almost unbearably frightening at times, especially for women listeners. The writing-style suits an audio version: helped by being very well-read by the narrator. Recommended

As ever, brilliant.

I love the Nicci French duo and I read this book years ago. Now I've just had it read to me and it was everything I remember- beautifully read!!
