Summary
Would you give up your perfect guy to keep your best friend happy?
Between her soccer superstar big sister and musical prodigy best friend, Leah Cooper has never been in the spotlight. And she's fine with that.
So why would she ever try out for choir? Oh right, the incredibly hot new neighbor Josh, who she might like more than she secretly loves boy bands.
The only problem is, her best friend Lilly likes him, too. They promise each other they'll both stay away, but Josh doesn't seem to want to stay away from Leah...
A throwback to the early 2000’s, Mountain Creek Drive is a new contemporary YA romance series that will have you longing for the days when Britney loved Justin and you had to share cell phone minutes with your siblings. Back when Friday nights were made for football games and sleepovers with the friends you’d do anything for.
The full high school teen romance series is available now:
- Book 1: Stage Kiss by M.F. Lorson
- Book 2: Leah's Song by Daphne James Huff
- Book 3: Chasing Love by Kayla Tirrell

Sweet stand alone story
This was a sweet story. There wasn't anything in the story that my 4th grader couldn't have heard, though I was a little disappointed in the way one of the characters acted.
I haven't read the first book in the series, and it wasn't necessary to have read the first one to enjoy this one. I did like the characters in Leah's Song and I would be interested in reading more of the series.
While the references to popular things from the early 2000s were cute, it also made the book feel a little outdated (like it was too recent to be a period novel, but just old enough not to be modern). Or maybe it's just my first book experience with it as a new period, kind of like the first time I heard them playing Red Hot Chili Peppers on Backtrax USA (it's not just 80s music anymore!).
I liked this performance by Kaye Anderson better than a previous audiobook I had heard with her. I thought she did a really good job with this one.

Leah’s Song Review
I loved this book, it’s the second book in the Mountain Creek Drive Series.
We first meet best friends Leah and Lilly who both have feelings for the new guy in town Josh. Not wanting to break there friendship apart, they both agree to stay away from him. josh however has other plans, he’s drawn to Leah even though Lilly is always around her.
Sparks fly when a shared secret kiss happens between Josh and Leah... But can Lilly and Leah still be friends or will a guy tear them apart. But after Leah learns that Lilly is trying to make Josh jealous with other guys she decides to take matters into her own hands, and go for what she really wants.

Nice sweet romance
Ah to be young and foolish again! This is a sweet story of forbidden love and best friends liking the same guy. However all’s fair in love and war. Good characters. Great narration from Kaye.

Good story
Overall this has been a really good story with some great characters. Definitely worth a read/listen. My only gripe is that the narrator seemed a little nasally so I had to relisten to certain passages.
But none-the-less, a terrific book.

Book 2
I wish this audiobook is a little bit longer. Capturing that teenage angst and frustration can be hard sometimes, but it was pulled off effortlessly here, with a very satisfying ending Great narration too.

poor Leah
In my opinion, an author has to be pretty good to get readers to absolutely loath characters in a book. That was me. This book actually got me right to loathing. This book really demonstrated the many obstacles that life has thrown at Leah, and brings back memories of what high school was or could have been. Kaye Anderson does a wonderful job with the narration.

Not bad but just wasn't for me
I overall thought this was a decent buck and enjoy the story I just had a few issues that me personally didn't like. I feel like the characters could be real I think we can all relate to some of these people in high school. For me I felt like I couldn't connect with the main character because I found her to be a bit whiny and on the weak side. I I did think that the narrator did a good job with the story being told from single point of view but made it very enjoyable listen.

Super Cute and Inspiring YA
I found Leah to be extremely relatable. The author did a really good job putting this young adult story together. We get a little bit of teenage drama with some angst but also we get to watch Leah start to get to learn what she wants in life and how she can go about achieving it. It is a story of overcoming fears and the pursuit of happiness. I really enjoyed this listen!
The narrator did an excellent job staying consistent with character voices and it was easy to tell who was speaking throughout the book. I think what really adds to this book is that the narrator has a young enough sounding voice that matches the age of Leah. This narrator was a good fit for this book and the performance was excellent.
