Summary
Gripping and packed with twists and turns, this stunning thriller will make you question whether we can ever really trust the ones we love....
What if your whole life was based on lies?
When Joe Lynch stumbles across his wife driving into a hotel car park while she's supposed to be at work, he's intrigued enough to follow her in.
And when he witnesses her in an angry altercation with family friend Ben, he knows he ought to intervene.
But just as the confrontation between the two men turns violent and Ben is knocked unconscious, Joe's young son has an asthma attack - and Joe must flee in order to help him.
When he returns, desperate to make sure Ben is OK, Joe is horrified to find that Ben has disappeared.
And that's when Joe receives the first message....

And not very good ones either
This book should of been about 10 chapters shorter, I don't know if going into such detail about things that were not really relevant to the story was to distract the listener from working out the twist, but that strategy failed quite early on. Was still quite a good finale, but overall it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be.

Not bad
Good story, although you kinda get to know part of the ending before it's revealed. Still, a good book, kept me listening

Well read but poorly written
There were too many distracting errors in this for me to enjoy it. Someone we're told is dead is later considered to live too far away to babysit. There's a communication described as having just two words on it "please help us". And others I won't include as they'd give away plot points. I got to the end only because I was listening while decorating.

Not a “natural” main character
A reasonable story with some unexpected twists, I just found I couldn’t empathise with Joe. He didn’t have a normal reaction to what he found out so I kept thinking “What is wrong with you”. A bit frustrating
