About this listen

Summer nights and star-crossed lovers! From USA Today best-selling author Sarina Bowen.

Once upon a time, he gave me a summer of friendship, followed by one perfect night. We shared a lot during our short time together. But he skipped a few crucial details.

I didn’t know he was a rock star.

I didn’t know his real name.

Neither of us knew I’d get pregnant.

And I sure never expected to see him again.

Five years later, his tour bus pulls up in Nest Lake, Maine. My little world is about to be shattered by loud music and the pounding of my own foolish heart.

You had me at rock star

ReviewAudio ARC received for an honest review

Ms Bowen, you had me at rock star. Throw in a surprise (to him) bubber and the small town vibe and I am all in, baby!

I loved that Jonas wasn't coming off being a manwhore and all of a sudden stopping that for one woman. Was he in the past? Yeah, sure.

And Kira and Vivi.. oh my heart 💕

And diving into the book as an audio gave it that something more for me. Could it be Jonas actually singing to me? Yeah, that could be it. Tim Paige and Erin Mallon (my favourite female narrator for years now) bring Jonas and Kira to life. Sometimes with the written word, subtleties of conversations can be missed, but with it speaking to me I felt all those nuances.

Kira's brother is the kind of family we all need. Loving and protective, he is the perfect man for.... well you need to read to find out. But I can't wait to get his story.

It did take a little while for me to get started with this one, but once I got past a couple of things at the beginning, I was hooked Hooked, I tell you!

I am looking forward to the other books in the Hush Notes series.

Love this rock star romance

I really enjoyed this sweet and emotional second chance romance. It is a mix of the best romance tropes with a rock star hero, a pregnancy that he never knew about, and a single mom who is struggling but doing the best for her little girl.
Jonas Smith returns to Nest Lake, Maine where he had spent a most memorable time. He regrets not keeping in contact with the girl he left behind there.
Kira has a secret that she has kept from John/Jonas but when he suddenly arrives in Maine she’s is forced to contain the issue.
I listened to this story on audiobook and I loved the narration by Erin Mallon and Tim Paige. They really brought the story to life.

Second Chance Romance and Utter Sweetness

I had the absolute pleasure of listening to the audiobook of Lies & Lullabies by Sarina Bowen narrated by Erin Mallon and Tim Paige with a special appearance by Jeffrey Kafer.

This story starts in present day, but then you get to see 5 years prior when Kira and Jonas first meet and the development, progression and eventual end of their summer in Maine. When they reconnect they both have secrets they must reveal, but the one thing that never changed was how they feel for each other.

I feel a little like I only got a taste of these two and I want more of their story, more of how they work on their long distance relationship, and more of their interaction with Vivi. Adam, Kira's brother was also a favorite of mine in this story and I really hope to get more of his story the future books by Denvey Perry and Rebecca Yarros.

Erin Mallon is a queen, let's be honest, her narration is always spot on and this is no different. I am not as familiar with Tim Paige, but this character was perfect for him and his voice really lended itself to a 20 something rock star who was vulnerable and affectionate. What really impressed me was Tim going above and beyond to write a melody and perform "Sweetness", the song written by Sarina Bowen. I am still humming this song in my head, it was an incredible addition to the book.

Overall I highly recommend this book, another Sarina Bowen story that I will love forever.

3.5 stars

This story was decent, but the relationship didn’t grab me half as much as many of Sarina Bowen’s other books. I was happy for them in the end, but I didn’t feel as invested as I would have liked.

All the feels in this second chance romance

What a fab start to this Hush Note series. FYI, Hush Note is the name of a band, and book 1 follows songwriter, guitarist and singer Jonas Smith who at the age of 25 goes to Nest Lake, Maine for the summer, he needs a bit of a reprieve from his rockstar life. He then unexpectedly falls in love with 20 year old Kira Cassidy, sadly after their one and only night of passion he leaves Maine without, it seems, a backward glance. One important detail, he didn’t give Kira his real name. Although, when you’re front and centre in a famous rock band, your identity can’t be hidden forever. When he comes back with his band 5 years later he doesn’t expect to see Kira again, but he gets a lot more than he bargained for when he bumps into her outside her father’s shop. I adored the story, second chance, baby daddy, rockstar romance. I received an advanced listener copy of this audio, and I’ve got to say it blew me away. Erin Mallon (who I love), narrates with all the emotion and detail needed for both Kira and her 4 year old daughter Vivi). Then there’s Tim Paige (completely new to me), who narrates Jonas to perfection, even going so far as singing - his voice as both singer and narrator is sexy and raspy, and together as a team, they were perfect. All the feels in this sweet, romantic, second chance romance.

Beautiful romance

I LOVE this audio book so much and it's definitely in my top 5 of this year. Tim is amazing as Jonas, a rock star who comes to realise he's been in love with the one who got away. Erin is exactly how I imagine imagined Kira, who has a secret daughter to Jonas. They meet again nearly 5years later and Jonas is shocked but wants to be together with his girls. Such a beautiful story that was amazingly narrated and omg Tim has an amazing singing voice. Absolutely perfect listening

What ever happened to Luke?

Lots of issues that could have been solved through better communication between the main characters. The story did not have much of a climax and Luke seemed to just have dissapeared into thin air. All in all, the story line was a bit messy, but still intriguing enough to read on.
