Excellent Manual, Impeccable Reading Performance
The fleeting glimpses of the ephemeral protagonists who appear (and disappear) in this story, remind us that the post-modern era is ended. Will we pick up the mantle of the Classical world or are we bound to a Neo-Dark age?

It does what it says on the tin
This is the 3rd book I have bought to learn about stoicism. What a relief that this book does what it says. There is a brief introduction to the philosophy and history and that is all that is needed for me. The book then introduces a new theme and sets you an activity for the week. It encourages you to reflect on the benefits of each activity and whether it will be useful to continue to use. 52 exercises to get you through the year and beyond. Easy to follow and great to put it into practise. There is no preaching. Just try it and decided whether it was useful for you. I am only at the beginning and am looking forward to listening to, and putting into practise, the remaining chapters.

Applicable and down to earth
It's so good I'm starting it over. It's not demanding as you progress week by week with very simple exercises.
The reader has excellent cadence and intonation.

Great introduction and resource
Provided a great introduction to stoicism in the form of a set of 52 weekly exercises. This works really well in terms of explaining what stoicism is about and what it actually means in practice. It is also a great resource because the exercises provide a really actionable pathway to learning stoicism and benefiting from it via practice
