Summary

On an unrecognizable world far from their home, the crew of interstellar freighter, the Mary May, find themselves stranded and alone.

Travis had always been a confident man, but everything changed when, stripped of his memories, he found himself naked and surrounded in a time long gone. When a chance encounter gave him hope that he might not be the only one in the same tragic predicament, he took control.

After seeking out the first of his crew and falling in love all over again with the battered space hulk they called home, they soon found the simple answer to their burning question wasn’t the right one. With the truth, all optimism fell away when the realization hit that they only had a few hours to find their remaining friends before they’re all damned to live out the rest of their lives as strangers in a foreign world.

With their fate already on a knife edge before the local military added to their woes, can Travis overcome his fears and the obstacles pressed against him by the strange world to bring the crew together before they’re lost forever, or worse?

Light yet compelling listening

I really enjoyed serval things about this book. The characters are keenly British and I really enjoyed the subtle nods to classics like red dawf. The character development through the book are really well thought out and I found myself really rooting for two unlikely friends right to the end. This sorry doesn't take itself too seriously and feels very much like an overture for many future adventures. The twists and turns kept me listening and wanting more. Can't wait for the next installment!

Oxford parallel universe space adventure

The crew of the Mary May are lost in a parallel universe, naked and suffering amnesia. They are not from here and they may also not be stranded here ever! I could close my eyes and be in this story. Characters were vivid and relatable. It was well written and descriptions of people, places, feelings and expressions made me feel in the action. The reader style on audible also pulls you in. I think the author knows Oxford really well as it was delightful to identify where the characters were and I feel it was well researched. As the first book of what I am sure will be a series, it sets the scene well and defines the personalities of the crew. What I would have liked to see more of is descriptions of how the other parallel universes compared including their home, there were some mentions but I would have liked more.
