About this listen

It's not easy being a doctor, especially when your wife has run off in search of excitement and you're given the push from your practice for sticking up for your principles.

Christopher Devon tries to make a new life and, after a bit of persuasion from his daughter, to meet a new woman. But how to find one? And how to placate a son who thinks you should never have split up in the first place?

Dr Devon is not the only man with woman trouble. Tiger Wilson has been married just a little too comfortably for 30 years, and Gary Flynn is a serial womaniser who refuses to settle down. But during one month in spring, they are all about to have their lives turned upside down, and not just by women.

Gentle and enjoyable book

I love Allan Titchmarsh's voice and enjoyed reading many of his books, but I'm not sure he has the range to convey the different characters voices and emotions with enough distinction.

This book was a great story, I enjoyed watching the characters develop. Allan always writes believable characters, and by the end of the stories I feel I have met them. This is no exception. I also liked the unusually dark aspect to the plot which was a constant undercurrent.

A pleasant read

This is a nice listen: cosy rather than gripping, but that could be somewhat down to Alan Titchmarsh’s calm voice.

Warm, entertaining story

I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to the calm, comforting voice of Alan Titchmarsh, and the story was entertaining in a gentle way. I have listened to several of his books and am impressed by his variety and knowledge of many subjects.

Great

Loved it, Alan has a very soothing voice. Story line was not too complex but enough to keep you guessing. At times quite emotional. A gentle book. It reminds me of black and white films on a Sunday afternoon, you just want to curl up on the sofa with a cup of tea and lose yourself for a couple of hours!

A enjoyable relaxing story, that reminds you that 50 is the new 40 !

Lots of turns and twist in the story, with some you don’t except. I really enjoy Love & Dr Devon but just wished there was a little more of Christopher & Maria at the end with her mother. It’s been whilst since I have listen to a Alan Titchmarsh book and forgotten his style of written , it is easy to listen to, with a lot of heart and soul , which has left me crying a few times as well as laughing but mainly thoughtful.
