Summary
A small-town doctor, a woman determined to find answers, and the power of family. Will the truth finally bring peace to these troubled hearts?
Dr. Jake Duncan is a busy man — what with being the local doctor, a member of the rescue squad, a volunteer with the GiddyUp Kids program, and most importantly, raising his young hearing-impaired son, there’s not much time for anything else. Especially not an event planner who comes to town looking to stir up trouble for one of the few men he considers a close friend, retired pro bull rider, Chad Andrews.
Hard-charging Gemma Watson is shocked to discover the identity of her biological father on accident. She’s determined to pay Chad Andrews a visit but it’s not a social call, more of a piece-of-her-mind call. But when Brody, her excitable golden retriever, gets into a bit of trouble and it's 911 to the rescue, her plans change.
To get closer to Chad, and smooth ruffled feathers of the handsome Dr. Jake, Gemma offers to organize a fundraiser event for the rescue squad, and he can’t say no. In fact, when it comes to Gemma, Jake is finding it impossible to stop her from getting her way. And he might just love her all the more for it....

Sweet Contemporary Romance
I was a bit confused on the two different small towns. There was no real explanation. She grew up in one, and was visiting the other, yet there were a few people who recognized her.
The narration was better than book one. The child's voice was again, perfect, But the adult voices were more unique this time. This was especially noticeable when visiting the businesses around town. There was definitely more of a faith aspect in this story. Characters regularly attended church, contemplated the sermons, and prayed. I would still like to read about more! Maybe some prodigal can return to the flock, or someone can accept Christ or get discipled.
I really enjoyed this story. The full circle was perfect!

Jake, Gemma & Kyle(& Brody!)
It is impossible not to love visiting Hallbrook! This time it's Thanksgiving, and I have fallen a little more in love with the town! It's charming, full of wonderful people, but I have to say in this one, Kyle won my heart! Gemma has returned to her hometown, only to find out who her biological father is. Unable to come to terms with why Chad left her, she finds out things are never as they seem. But along the way, we meet Jake, the local doctor. Burned by his ex-wife, he focuses on work and his young son, Kyle. But there is something about Gemma that is opening his heart. Would she ever be willing to leave the city and come back to Hallbrook? This is a heart warming story of love, forgiveness and compassion. There are a few things going on as we get to know Gemma and her parents, as well as helping the town raising money for the rescue squad, and enjoying not only Kyle's adorableness, but the kissing booth too! It's fun, sweet and an easy listen that made me smile.
Rachel Butler continues her narration of the series, and I absolute love her voice. She has honed in on this small town and found the essence of each character. Picking voices has to be the hardest part and she has each character sounding exactly as I imagine. Add in Lydia Butler's performance as Kyle, and I could not stop listening. It's a story that is easy on the ears with a happy ending!
