About this listen
Every psychopath in the Mulvaney family has a role to play. Archer Mulvaney is the gambler, a drunken reprobate making his living as a high-stakes poker player. Very few people know the real Archer, not even his brothers. But there is one man who knows far too much.
Mackenzie Shepherd spends his days photographing endangered wildlife. He’s also the brother of a sociopath and son to the woman who literally wrote the book on raising one. When his mother asks him to head a secret government project, it seems like the perfect excuse to run away from his life.
But running from his past has Mac colliding straight into Archer. And that’s a problem. For this project to be successful, Mac and Archer have to agree on every decision, and the two see eye-to-eye on nothing. Except maybe the sex. The sex is off the charts.
When Mac’s old life comes back to haunt him, Archer insists on putting their differences aside to help keep him safe. But Mac, like Archer, is used to solving things on his own. Can they finally stop fighting each other to find the truth, or is their relationship the next thing on the endangered species list?
Lunatic is a filthy hot, enemies to lovers, psychopath romance with an HEA and no cliffhangers. It features a sexy, roguish degenerate and a hunky, bleeding heart ginger who love how much they hate each other. As always, there’s gratuitous violence, very dark humor, more blood than a slaughterhouse, and enough heat to melt your metaphorical undies.
This is book six in the Necessary Evils series. Each book follows a different couple.

"I love you, Katniss. I don’t care who knows it"
I gotta say that I enjoyed listening to this book more than I did when reading it.
Liam's narration is on point and his cadence really matched Archer.
I really liked how Archer and Mac came to be "spouses", even if most of it was off page. Just like their first encounter was off page, that didn't really help with connecting us with the beginning of their story. Even more so when the jump happened from "frenemies" to ILUs so quickly.
Mac and Archer had incredible chemistry and amazing banter as "rivals" but it didn't really followed them in married life. Now that wouldn't have been so bad, especially since Archer opened up and shed his "pirate" persona, revealing a sweet and funny character, that doesn't like being vulnerable but would do so for the person he loves, and Mac was the perfect partner for him, with his own scars that Archer was more than willing to use his brothers and their hubbies to heal, BUT on the second half of the book Archer and Mac barely had any time alone or on page without the whole cast, marching through it.
Anyways, Onley baited and hooked us when it comes to her new series The Watch and I can't wait to see more of Archer and Mac there.

Amazing
I loved Archer and I loved his story. I don't want to spoil anything but I can say that things happened in the book that surprised me in the best way possible. Archer's story was very interesting and I loved his character growth, from the prologue where we meet six year old Archer to the epilogue we really see how much he's changed. I loved him and Mac together, their chemistry was explosive and Mac was perfect for Archer in every way. The cameos were brilliant as always, it was great to see all the brothers and their partners. Felix was awesome, the twins were scary and I wanted to hug Noah. The suspense storyline was heartbreaking. I also really enjoyed all the discussions about psychology. The narrator was absolutely amazing! I love the way he voiced the characters. He really brought the story to life. I loved every single minute. Fantastic! I highly recommend the audiobook.

Chaotic, steamy, and entertaining
It's no secret that I'm addicted to this series, and Archer and Mac's story was another chaotic, entertaining ride. I'm still recovering from the reveal that Archer isn't the laid-back drunk he presents to the world, and his actual occupation was so freaking cool. This book definitely threw me into Archer and Mac's relationship in a way that none of the other books in this series have, and while at first I was unsure about it, I grew to love the whirlwind. Steamy hookups, love bombing, and accidental marriage were just a few of the things in store for this couple, and I was highly entertained by their push and pull. I'm incredibly curious about Project Watchtower, and while it wasn't a big focus of this story, I'm so excited about the upcoming spinoff. Plotline wise, I thought the unknown bad guys hunting Mac made for a fascinating story to unravel, and as always, the Mulvaneys rallied to help take out some of the grossest human trash imaginable. I loved the Mulvaney family drama and shenanigans, and it was exciting to see the way this family adopted Mac into their fold and included him in their missions. All in all, another solid psychopath romance that blended all my favorite elements of Onley James's writing together!

Sad that the end is near
I loved Archer and Mac.
The animosity between them was intense and of course leads to off the charts heat and passion.
It was wonderful to get to know Archer much more than just for the image he portrays.
It was absolutely hilarious seeing Mac trying to adjust to family living "Mulvaney style."
This was full of pulse pounding action, danger and a cliffhanger of an ending that has me both desperately waiting for it's conclusion and also dreading it at the same time because I don't want it to end.
The narration was wonderful and brought the story to life.

Even better in Audio
I must admit I read this book twice before the audio release and was unsure what to expect. I was gloriously surprised that listening to this story added a dimension I had not experienced before. I finally grasped the nuances of Archer's need to be forced to relax his tightly held control. Mac gives him that. Lunatic, by Onley James, is a lovely addition and is perfectly placed as the With penultimate in this series. It is in some ways a 'softer - less kink-filled story than the twins' but does an excellent job of revealing that the 'pirate' of the group turns out to be the hidden gem.
Most series develop a predictable plot pattern, which takes away some of the joyful explorations, but Onley James once again manages to shake that stereotype. Archer is not the devil may care, drunken pirate’ he portrayed, but I did not expect the depths and twists that exist in his psyche. His story is not just a repeat of a plot pattern, but a whole new arc. In this story, a whole new area is added to the Mulvaney world. Just as "Freckles' story added the world of Jericho s adopted sons, this story gives us the Watch. Just when I thought that a beloved series was coming to an end, Onley gifts us with new life Well Done Onley – Well done!

Archer and Mac Brilliant ❤
OH WOW...... Absolutely blown away by this series by Onley James it's simply fantastic I've been waiting for Archer's story from the start love all of them but him I was captivated he stole my heart wanting to know is back story to the man he is now from the prologue the first meeting the pain and loneliness to meeting Mac the chemistry between them is red hot it sizzles of the page how vulnerable he is with Mac but he understands him in a way no one else does the connection between them is something truly special these two are made for each other.
And with the narration of Liam Dicosimo who's truly outstanding at bringing all these amazing characters to life he pulls you in and taken along for the ride.
The bonding with Archer and Noah was simply amazing I shed a tear so beautiful and emotional.
More of the Mulvaney's together the fun the banter also some torture you don't want to miss it recommend so much. ❤

my favorite of the series
I've been anxiously waiting for Archer's book and it didn't disappoint. Archer is so complex and he played the drunk pirate so well that even his family was fooled for years. I felt bad for him, having to put on an act round the clock like that, and it's great that he found Mac and was finally able to let go and be cared for. As for Mac, he's a dream!
I missed seeing more of August & Lucas (my favorite couple in the NE world) and, of course, Aiden. After Mad Man, I thought Aiden would be more in this book.
Down a star, because I wanted to see Mac & Archer's first night together and the beginning of their on-and-off fling. There could have been a Prologue 2 or something.

Absolutely obsessed
This series just couldn’t get any better - the Mulvaneys are #familygoals and I love Archer and Mac’s story. Their instant attraction and back and forth is so incredibly sexy and Liam DiCosimo does a fantastic job of bringing all that heat, mayhem and emotions to life. I know picking up a book with the combo of Onley James and Liam is going to be perfection!
