Summary

Mandy Smith spent 12 years strutting down the aisles as a Virgin flight attendant. From projectile vomit and celebrity tantrums to Manhattans and shopping in New York, her tales of life in the air are riotous good fun. Set against a backdrop of exotic locations, the cast of characters includes several celebrities, including Sir Richard himself. In-flight entertainment has never been so fun...and risqué!

Had this on audible for my long drives. I had it on for cooking working and to fall asleep to. Couldn’t put it down.

hard work...and I don't mean being a trolley dolly

I struggled to finish listening to a series of fairly uninteresting tales of global travels and (some what dull) sexual encounters. The use of sizzling in the title is false advertising.

Although the 9/11 chapter was the best one of all.

The narrator did the best she could with awful material.

Not a good read

I thought this book was about air hostess life. Not a sex romp. I think it lowers Virgins image and is doing no good at all to Richard B. I am sure he would be ashamed how his employees are behaving. There are a few good accounts of flying adventures but the rest is just getting drunk and having very detailed sex. As another review said a disgusting book.

Disappointed

I thought this would be interesting, however the authors obsession with sex and describing in lurid detail wanes a bit, I know the image Virgin has as a brand but this does not promote the brand in a positive manner. There were sections that were good but would have preferred some more focus on the actual job and places visited.

Not what I was hoping for

Not a biography or memoir unfortunately. Juvenile telling of a story with too much inconsequential dialogue.

Basic

Started well with orb the reason did getting the job but quickly turned into the sexual conquests and too much of the graphic details. More flying stories not the jolly she had whilst in the countries mire a teenage diary than a job description book

Shameful

If this truly is the way that Virgin cabin crew behave it is disgraceful and they should be ashamed of themselves. The tales of drunken debauchery are a little hard to believe. Methinks that the stories have been heavily embellished to make the book more exciting to read, I doubt that it is true in real life.
I know a few cabin crew working for various airlines and the shopping trips are very true.
True cabin crew would never call themselves "dollies" since they consider it a derogatory term. We already knew that Richard Branson personally vets his dollies before employing them, which in itself is disgusting behaviour.
I had to listen to this book in small bites to get through it.
I wouldn't recommend it, it will make you feel sick to your stomach, particularly if you fly a lot.

A book of things that never happened

I got his book out of interest to see what would be said. I can categorically say this book is quite literally a book of things that never happened. Don’t bother buying!

Offensive to Cabin Crews

This is a book about a person who never grew up, 'funny' parts are often disgusting and not funny at all. It portrays Cabin Crew as a bunch of drunk, not very smart sexoholics, which obviously ISN'T true. Who finds it funny to spit in someone else's food, or jokes about exploding breast implants? Teenagers, that's who. Not people who are responsible for other people's lives on board.
And the most important thing - there's more about sex and parties than actual cabin crew work, and most of it is simply untrue. If I were a Flight Attendant I'd be offended by this 'work of art'.
Virgin Atlantic should sue the author, and they'd most likely win, especially since there's a fragment about crews of another Very British Airline suggesting they're 'stuck up', implying that it's the norm for Virgin Atlantic, but not for other airlines.
Save your money, buy something else.
