Summary

The fabulous sequel to 2019's hit debut novel: Master of Sorrows.

Annev has avoided one fate. But a darker path may still claim him....

After surviving the destruction of Chaenbalu, new mysteries and greater threats await Annev and his friends in the capital city of Luqura. As they navigate the city's perilous streets, Annev searches for a way to control his nascent magic and remove the cursed artifact now fused to his body.

But what might removing it cost him?

As Annev grapples with his magic, Fyn joins forces with old enemies and new allies, waging a secret war against Luqura's corrupt guilds in the hopes of forging his own criminal empire. Deep in the Brakewood, Myjun is learning new skills of her own as apprentice to Oyru, the shadow assassin who attacked the village of Chaenbalu - but the power of revenge comes at a daunting price. And back in Chaenbalu itself, left for dead in the Academy's ruins, Kenton seeks salvation in the only place he can: the power hoarded in the Vault of Damnation....

Can't wait for book 3

Another fantastic entry. Totally captivating and very well performed, Justin Call and Peter Kenny make a great team.

I'm hooked

It's been a long time since I read a fantasy series that hooked me like this, most have been fairly slow grinds, with moments of excitement books apart. This series has so far been quite active indeed, and I love the detailed magic systems, as well as the characters not lingering on their mental challenges for a whole book, but things move on at a steady pace. And the voice performance is also very good, major kudos for that.

You need an ark? I know a guy

Master Artificer by @Justin_T_Call. I loved this sequel: interesting characters such as Myjun - the embodiment of life - & Oyru as death reincarnate, drive this #fantasy novel forwards.@PeterKennyVoice delivered a phenomenal performance. The story arc of the MC was faultless too.

I really liked how his constant supportiveness shone throughout, especially in the way he and Redthumb bonded. The world in the story was absolutely massive - spanning three or four continents - that kept not only the characters engaged but the reader too. 📚5/5🌟#bookreview

Gripping, vastly improved over the first book

The first book was surprisingly good but this takes it up a notch. I was absolutely hooked with the story line and the character development is masterful, you can see their growth and how much they have changed over time in some unpredictable arcs. I also love the magic system and the attention the author gives to that.

I have listened to many fantasy and grimdark novels but I never expected this one to be right up there, coming from a new and unknown author. The only downside is waiting for book 3 as the story is teetering on a knifes edge! Please Justin, finish it soon!

The Amazing Journey Continues

I was swept along at a wonderful pace , learning more about the various characters, their motivations and personalities. I’m so looking forward to finding out how things play out, with excitement, intrigue but also with a strange slice of dread . I wonder where we are off to next . Also Peter Kenny! There aren’t enough words , he is a genius and through him I have discovered so many fantastic authors and their works,

Darker and better than ever

Not every coming of age has to be a character growing kinder and sagely. From the very first book, when everything was burned to ashes we knew this story would be full of tragedy, but damn is it well done. Deeper and darker than the first, worth it if you enjoy a darker fantasy.

The first book was better

The first book was interesting. Yet another magic school thing but it was ok as it had a twist to it. But this book just seems to flap about. The characters are inconsistent and seem to just go the opposite direction. As a light read, fine. The narrator is good, no complaints there. The characters just have no consistency relative to the first book.
