Summary

'Fabulous, relaxing, page-turning, dream-inspiring' MIRANDA HART

'Exquisitely beautiful and so perceptive' JOANNA CANNON

From the Costa-shortlisted author of THE OTHER HALF OF AUGUSTA HOPE and ALL MY MOTHERS

Can two lost people find each other?

The story of two people who have no idea how to fall in love…

On two Northumbrian islands, joined together by a bridge at low tide, Addie and Sol take comfort in the ocean and birds around them. Every day they dream of escape.

Introverts with turbulent pasts and wary hearts, they are both drawn to nature far more than to people – until they catch sight of one another in the wild.

Can they break free from their inhibitions and risk a better future together?

'A mini-holiday in itself, and an adorable ode to the romance of the awkward, the shy and the uncertain' LOUISA YOUNG

'Gentle and mesmerising' WOMAN & HOME, Book of the Month

I didn’t want it to end!

Beautifully written and so thought provoking - love that nature is such a huge part of the book, and real life is not straightforward & easy like in the story. Thank you Joanna!

Gentle & Comforting

A lovely 'will they, won't they' story against the backdrop of childhood trauma and the beauty of nature. I found this story utterly compelling and soothing.

Best book I’ve ever read, I saw and felt it all deeply and was completely consumed in the text and characters. Just wonderful thank you

Sorry a bit dull!

I’m a big fan of the author but found this a bit of a plod. Too many bird metaphors and a bit too much God! Enjoyable without being memorable, great narration. Echoes of Augusta Hope (a wonderful book by the same author.)
