Perfect
Perfect book. Must read (listen) for any lovers of gothic horror. Great reading performance. Will struggle to follow it up with something just as good!

A stunner of a book
Loved, loved loved this book. So well written and compelling despite the obligatory gothic tropes. The descriptions of the house and the grounds took me right there. Howard was so awful- a true horror classic.

Seems slow in places but picked up towards the end
Book was okay but seemed slow and dragged along at the start. The pace picked up towards the end though.

I'm in awe.
I came with no expectations of whatsoever as I had never read anything by Moreno-Garcia and had heard mixed reviews (although more leaning towards positive), I was genuinely curious as to what this book holds within its pages, to my surprise and delight, this book pulled me into a dark, eerie world with a unique ambiance that is almost tangible.
I consumed it via audio-book, and while listening, I felt deeply engrossed and compelled towards the story. It's beautifully crafted and definitely makes me want to check the author's previous books right away!
One thing that I would like to point out is that the narrator's "English" accent sounded more German but that's me being picky.

SOOOO good
This was 10+ hours WELL SPENT!!!
Such an engrossing story with an authentic backdrop👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Couldnt stop listening and ended up finishing it in one day!! Need i say more!

Why hire an actress who can’t do British accents?
This was a good book but I was utterly distracted by the fact that the actor reading this book can’t do a British accent— and most of the main characters (like 4/6) are British. The accent is totally all over the place and I really couldn’t take what the characters were saying seriously! You should definitely do a re-record on this book.

thrilling gothic horror
A thrilling gothic horror that transcends at times into the grotesque. As Noemi races to her disturbed cousin Catalina's side, it soon becomes apparent that the illness she suffers from is caused by the horrors lurking inside the house. Noemi suffers increasingly disturbing dreams and nightmarish hallucinations. The house becomes a living and threatening character. Each of the inhabitants hides some violent and disturbing past. This book started slowly, but soon had me immersed
