Jules Verne fue un escritor y poeta francés nacido en Nantes en 1828 y fallecido en Amiens en 1905. Precursor de la ficción científica y maestro de la novela de aventuras, acumula en su haber obras cumbre de la literatura universal como De la Tierra a la Luna, Veinte mil leguas de viaje submarino o La vuelta al mundo en ochenta días. Sus novelas le han ganado por derecho propio un lugar en lo más alto del estrellato literario mundial.
