She worked full time as a waitress and attended college at George Mason University, majoring in global environmental change. Sure, she was only 22 and married with one son, just 17-months-old. But that is hardly uncommon. And yes, her marriage was faltering, but even that was hardly unique, especially when married at such a young age to a husband serving repeated tours of duty in Afghanistan.
