About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Over 1 million Discworld audiobooks sold – discover the extraordinary universe of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld like never before

'Holy Wood is a different sort of place. People act differently here. Everywhere else the most important things are gods or money or cattle. Here, the most important thing is to be important.'

Cameras roll, for the first time, on the Discworld when alchemists discover the excitement of the silver screen. But what is the dark secret of Holy Wood hill? As the cliches of Tinsel Town pour into the world, it's up to the Disc's first film stars to find out . . .

Join Victor Tugelbend ('Can't sing. Can't dance. Can handle a sword a little') and Theda Withel ('I come from a little town you've probably never heard of') as they battle the forces of evil and cinema advertising.

They're about to discover that the magic of the silver screen might be powerful enough to put an end to, well, everything.

The Discworld novels can be listened to in any order but Moving Pictures is a standalone novel.

Perfect

I love Discworld.

But this audio book brought the story & story to life even more than the book, Excellent voices by Jason Isaacs, who somehow managed to create identifiable & perfect voices for each character. Even the trolls. I enjoyed listening so much I had to slow down as I didn’t want it to finish.

Jason Isaacs is an ideal story teller for Discworld. Can you ask him to do another please? And more Gaspode !

Excellent Book, Excellent Reading

Jason Isaacs has outdone himself with this one, distinct accents that fit the characters perfectly, all read with perfect timing. Just a shame he didn't do more, I wish they'd got him to do the city watch series instead of Culshaw.

Brilliantly read,

Jason Isaacs gives all the characters the voices I always imagined they had. His rendition of Mustrum Ridcully is especially memorable.

Good story, great narrator.

Jason Isaacs was an inspired choice for narrator. more from him, please.

The story is fun, funny, and a great example of Discworld at its best.

Brilliant! Dreams DO come true! Sometimes 😏

You truly on an adventure with the characters in this story. I’ve actually listened actively several times now. A clever look at the history of Holyrood(?😳) and the start of making movies for the cinematic screen.

BURSAAAAAAAR!!!

The whole thing was brilliant and Isaac's voices were all perfect. But... His Ridcully is actual genius. The first time he yelled for the Bursar I laughed so much I needed my inhaler. Exquisite.

Outstanding Narration

If you love Terry Pratchett stories, then you know what you're getting here (and there is no point in preaching to the choir).
However Jason Isaacs vocal performance is fantastic, and in my opinion, one of the best narrators across Audible. So definitely worth a review.

Superb

Jason Isaacs is already working with an amazing book but his vocal talent is next level. Dibbler was a masterpiece and Ruby’s cabaret performance with Bill Nighy’s translation made me laugh out loud. Please do more audiobooks Jason Isaacs.
