Summary
Spring, 1905: Free-spirited like the Thoroughbreds she rides across the Kentucky countryside, Stella takes adventure by the reins when she's asked to attend a mysterious wedding in rural England. Murder at Mornington Manor
A reasonable story but a little slow in parts. The story of the marriage was a little odd. I do suppose, back in the times this is set that such things did happen.

Confusing Narrative for Audio
I confess, I nearly gave up on this story. It was tiresomely slow and surprisingly, despite having a good cast of characters, somewhat confusing!
It was very difficult to know who was driving the story because it switched from her perspective to his, seemingly within the same chapter! That may be possible with written text (although I doubt it), but if the narrator doesn’t make the distinction (which she didn’t), it’s rather confusing to follow!
The story of itself was overlong (in my opinion), but the resolutions were rather good.
As for the narrator; she’s American telling the story (sometimes), from an American heroine’s perspective, so I suppose that I have to accept mispronunciations when she or her father speak - but NOT when the English characters speak, so it grates when she says “Daimler” and “Derby” (the latter quite a lot)!
I would say that I endured this title more than I enjoyed it. It is part of the Audible Plus Catalogue of titles, the rest of the series titles are for sale, but I will not be investing in them.

loved this!
This was a great listen. Not only was the mystery intriguing but there was a lovely budding romance between the two main characters who were being forced to make a marriage of convenience. I loved it and cant wait for book 2.

Good plot twist
Poor pronunciation. Please find out before recording how places and things are pronounced in England, as the story is set there. Doesn’t take much. Otherwise it’s an enjoyable listen.

An okay story let down by a lack of research, and poor narration
The author professes to have committed research but clearly didn’t do much with regard to the habits and behaviours of the English aristocracy and their households.
The narration was liberally littered with mispronounciations. Some changed throughout the text - eg, Epsom Derby being pronounced correctly as Dahby at times but more often, incorrectly as Derrrby. Row, as in an argument, being pronounced as in rowing, with oars??
