Verity Beresford is worried about her husband. Oliver didn’t come home last night so of course Verity goes straight to Judith Potts, Marlow’s resident amateur sleuth, for help. Oliver, founder of the Marlow Amateur Dramatic Society, had hired The Marlow Belle, a private pleasure cruiser, for an exclusive party with the MADS committee but no one remembers seeing him disembark. And then Oliver’s body washes up on the Thames with two bullet holes in him – it’s time for the Marlow Murder Club to leap into action.
Oliver was a rather complicated chap and he wasn’t short of enemies. Judith, Suzie, and Becks are convinced they’ll crack the case in no time. But things are not as they seem in the Marlow Amateur Dramatic Society, and the gang will need to keep their wits about them, otherwise a killer may sail away scot-free …

Fun but…
Fun but not quite as good as the previous ones. Guessed many of the twists well in advance and found the dialogue wearing in places, which surprised me as it’s never something I’ve noticed before. It’s still enjoyable but not the same level as the first three.

slightly drawnout storyline, quicker conclusion would have been nice
everyone could have done it everyone have a motive and everyone have been proved guilty in theory at one time or another, so I found myself loosing interest somewhat towards the end, so by the time we did get to the grand unveiling of who done it I was left slightly underwhelmed with who did it and why and how they did, so I would have to say it wasn't as good as the other three, though I'm looking forward to the next book.

Super cosy murder mystery in Marlow
The narration is first class at bringing the characters and action to life, the main characters are now well established and likeable, the setting in Marlow is comfortably homely, and on embarking on the story you know you are going on a reassuringly safe traditional English murder mystery.

Another brilliant book in this terrific series
These Marlow books are absolutely superb. The characters are so interesting and love the way the books keep us gripped. Agatha Christie is Robert Thorogood’s hero and he certainly delivers stories that I’m sure that , if she was still alive, she would be very impressed with. Looking forward to book 5. Definitely recommend.

love the characters they are so real
I enjoyed the book immensely full of twists and turns and quite unusual. The narrator was brilliant and made the characters stand out with the slight change in accent and tone.
Altogether a very enjoyable listening experience.
