Summary
A broken engagement, a return trip home, a desperate search for a new job, and an unexpected shot at forbidden romance. How did I get here?
My life was going perfectly. I had a hot fiancé, a perfect wedding planned, and my whole career ahead of me. My happy-ever-after was just around the corner.
Life was great, until I found out that my fiancé was cheating on me. I then lost my job and had to return home to Denver, feeling more defeated than ever. When my dad hooked me up with a great opportunity on his best friend’s ranch, I had to take the chance to get my life back on track.
Then, I met my new boss: Theodore Woods, Billionaire Rancher. Gruff, demanding, and deliciously handsome.
He's also my dad’s best friend.
I guess, after Colin, I’m looking for a real man—one who will respect me, take care of me, and treasure me. And the heat I’ve caught in Theodore’s eyes sparks those tummy flutters all over again. For the first time in a long time, I’m feeling hopeful. But what will my parents say? Won’t they freak out? Is Theodore worth the risk?
My Billionaire Rancher: Secret Lover is a standalone, full-length, slow-burn drama with a gruff, handsome billionaire rancher, a feisty younger heroine, and the tension of a forbidden, age-gap romance.

I don't think this is the age-gap romance for me..
It just didn't hit they way I wanted it to. My main issues were... first, I felt that the romance was a bit too rushed; obvs this is a novella so it is meant to be short, but I still feel like it could have been developed a bit more than it was. Second, whilst I love a good age-gap romance (in a fictional setting, don't know about real life), this was just a little too weird/out there fore me because he'd known her all her life. it just felt a little too icky for me... sorry.
The audio was narrated well though, I'll give it that!

Not my cup of tea
This is an age-gap, dad’s friend, small town romance novella.
Amelia, a 24 year old living in New York, gets cheated on by her fiancé and ends up unemployed and living back home with her parents. Her dad hooks her up with a job on his friend’s ranch in Colorado where she finds herself attracted to the boss.
This book was not my cup of tea. I like age gap romances where the older person is confident and dominant. The older man in this book, Theodore , sounded insecure and unsure of himself. Also a lot of the time, he sounded younger that he was supposed to be. I don’t know if it was the way the character was written or the way the narrator portrayed him.
The book has more inner monologue than I like. There wasn’t enough interaction between the characters. There was a lot more telling than showing.
The love story was also lacking, in my opinion, I didn’t feel any emotional connection between them before she started talking about love.
This story is told in dual POV but the chapters didn’t indicate who’s POV it was. Both the Amelia and Theodore’s chapters are narrated by the same person. I wasn’t a fan of the narration. The narrator put in the effort to portray different voices, but it wasn’t consistent. Her male voice flipped to a more feminine voice quite frequently, which future confused who’s POV were were listening to, since we weren’t explicitly told. Amelia also sounded a bit to whiney and immature, at times for a 24 year old who thought she was mature enough to date someone in their 50s. I don’t know if this was just the way the character was written or the narrator portrayed her.
I wouldn’t recommend this because I didn’t like it, but someone else might.

I really hope to love it
Unfortunately, I did not connect with the book, neither the narration nor the plot. It started over dramatic on the part of the MFC, her father's best friend got from a "I won't make assumptions" guy suddenly "I think I'm jealous" guy in less than a day...
She knows it's her father's best friend who is also her boss and still she decides to say after a night of knowing each other "I'm not drunk anymore" and they f&cking... I wanted to DNF the book at this point but I continued to finish the book.
I was really hoping to connect with him, I'm a little disappointed... I hope maybe if I'll try another book my the author it'll be better 🙏🏻

Good
Good story. The pace was a little off for me, otherwise the story flowed well and the characters leant well to each other.
