About this listen

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of My Story by Steven Gerrard, read by Michael Ryan.

Steven Gerrard is the former captain of Liverpool football team and of the England national football team and is the only player ever to have scored in a FA cup final, a league cup final, a UEFA cup final and a champion's league final. His entire career, since 1998, has been spent at Anfield with Liverpool.

In this audiobook he charts his full playing career, shedding light on the defining games, his life off the pitch as well as the players and managers he's encountered. Explosive, controversial and searingly honest, this will be the last word from an era-defining player.

As a non Liverpool fan, this is worth a listen. goes into detail about every stage of his career, from the youth academy at Liverpool, to international games, to LA Galaxy....well written & narrated by the man himself. would of gladly listened to a few more hours of this xD

Good audiobook

Any additional comments?

Well read, particularly fitting that the narrator has a strong scouse accent. Interesting content but not a classic (I'm a big Liverpool fan, which is why I bought the book, but even I found it getting a big stale in parts).

carries the weight of expectations on his shoulders.... still behaves like an ordinary guy.

Boss book, awful description of the songs.

Boss book but the narration of the songs is cringeworthy and robotic. Other than that the lad reading it is sound, sounds a lot like Stevie.

Great book on a true legend of the game

Very intense insight into Stevies G's life and mind. He is a winner through and through and this is a great insight into what drove him as a person and a player.

Stevie Gerrard, born and bred.

I picked this up causally as I'm a casual Liverpool supporter, and have always been happy that Stevie G was our man. Reading the book, I absolutely loved the stories and the inner thoughts.

Its so recent that you wonder what some of the people he talks about will think when they hear what he has to say.

For the most part I really enjoyed this book although there were some parts which tended to drag on a little maybe perhaps too much detail about matches.

I did find it a little bit confusing at times as the book jumps around in events and years.

At times it felt like he was watching a reply and describing it as he was watching a replay rather than as he remembered it, but I guess after 700 games that's fair enough.

Stevie G is a really true and authentic individual and that comes across in his words and actions and I feel so much more for him after reading. HE IS AND WILL BE A TRUE KOP LEGEND.

I wish he had read his own autobiography rather than got some else in, or at least read the forward etc. But I think they may have sneaked his voice in to parts of the book.

Would like to have heard more about the big nights/matches but still a fantastic summary of 17 glorious years and makes me yearn for more.

A real role model for current and future footballers and will be a supremely difficult act to follow.
