Summary
It’s the start of the Hollywood on Hudson film festival, and New York City is swept up in the glamour. There’s a red carpet premiere every night; the most exclusive restaurants are filled with wealthy producers and pre-eminent directors; and thousands of fans gather with the paparazzi, hoping to catch a glimpse of the most famous and beautiful faces in the world. With so many celebrities in town, special task force NYPD Red is on high alert - and it can’t afford to make a single mistake.
Then a world-renowned producer fatally collapses at his power breakfast, and top NYPD Red Detective Zach Jordan is the first one on the scene. Zach works with his beautiful new partner, Detective Kylie MacDonald - who also happens to be his ex-girlfriend - to discover who the killer might be. But this is only the beginning: the most brutal, public, and horrifyingly spectacular crimes they’ve ever encountered are about to send all of New York into chaos, putting NYPD Red on the ropes.
Zach and Kylie know there’s no way of telling what a killer this deranged will do next. With the whole world watching, they have to find a way to stop a psychopath who has scripted his finale down to the last explosive detail.

Great ending
I'm a big fan of James Patterson and have read most of his work (or listened to) and this for me wasn't one of his better ones. The story took quite a while to capture my interest and the characters didn't get their usual build up until a lot later in the story.
Having said that by a third of the way in I was in there, in the thick of it and there was enough of the usual and enough of the surprise to keep me hooked to the end.
Just a 4 star from me but well worth a listen

Awesome!!!
I love James Patterson I've read a huge amount of his books a d this one is a cant put it down kind of book !!! It was all action all go I didn't want to quit listening I hope he turns this book into a series!!! LOVED IT!!!

Exciting new characters and scenario
Great and refreshing new take on police thriller - NYPD Red, an elite specialist service that protects VIPs, risks being stretched beyond breaking point when a serial killer targets a trade contingent of film industry top brass. The interraction between the partners, Detective Zach Jordan and former girlfriend Detective Kylie MacDonald, along with her husband, was fabulously engaging. Really hope we get to see them in action again!

Great suspense and romance
I have loved this book, stayed sometimes in my car at the garage to listen to the end of a chapter. The story enfolds step by step, but the suspense stays until the very end with many twists. Two parallel story: the crime and the private life of the detective. And the crime story is also told double: once by the criminal and once by the detective. The narrators are absolulety stunning, they both are brilliant to switch between the characters and add a lot to the interpretation of the story. Some parts I have listened to several times due to the funny and/or great narration. I highly recommend this book to everyone, its the best listen I have ever had!

fantastic.
loved the chemistry between Zack and Kylie, the story flows really well and if anything almost too well because I could just listen to the whole book without a break. nypd red is a great series I read the next 2 which are just as good. this series should make it to tv or even movies

The story is easy to listen to and the set pieces came along with a nice frequency to keep the interest going. Hard to feel for the key characters too much as they come across as a bit "TV" movie.

Another Title from James Patterson
I was pleasantly surprised by this one, I really enjoyed it. I am a big fan of Alex Cross,Womens Murder Club and Private but with some of the other stuff I havent read, I am always worried that James Patterson is going to spread himself too thin and the quality is going to start to suffer. Happily I dont think this has happened yet and this title was well up to his usual standard
