Summary

Julienne is snow-bound in the middle of the Rocky Mountains with a killer striking at will.

Julienne LaMere gets to attend a resort management conference at a prestigious ski resort in the Colorado mountains. What should be an enjoyable getaway attending workshops by day and shopping and enjoying the resort by night comes to a screeching halt when a loud-mouthed guest is murdered as the roads and town shut down for an epic blizzard.

In addition to attending the conference, dodging a smitten teenage boy, and seeking clues among the gossiping - and increasingly tense - guests, her best friend’s heart has warmed to an unlikely man and may get broken. As if her mind isn’t already fully occupied, Julienne and her new boyfriend Mason are skiing down troubled slopes in their relationship.

Will Julienne put the scant clues together and unveil the culprit before a murderer gets away?

Nailed it with this book

I read this book and really enjoyed it at the time, so jumped at the chance to hear it as an audio book. Glad I did because it is even better as an audio book. I like the fact that everybody got snowed in with a killer on the loose, it made it an unusual mystery and gave the author a chance to spook everyone. The characters are great and I liked the way they went about solving the case, by setting up gossip spies , it pays to be an avid reader or a Sherlock Holmes fan. The budding romance added another layer of fun and mystery to the story. The mystery it's self was interesting and with plenty of suspects it kept you guessing until the end. This is book two and having listened to book one iced, I was pleased to see the story continue with the same cast of characters, fun, high-jinks and humour.
Julienne at the last minute takes her boss place at a hotelier convention in the Rocky Mountains, taking her best friend along for the company because her boy friend is off doing his bodyguard thing. The days filled up with meeting she hoped to fill her nights with good food and take advantage of the hotel's amenities but things don't turn out that way when the obnoxious lady who was so rude in the restaurant is found dead the next morning. The police have plenty of witnesses to her Jekyll and Hide behaviour but only because Julienne passes them on, by doing so this prompts the detective to enlist her help as his eyes and ears. When everybody gets trapped in the hotel by a major blizzard tension is high knowing that they are trapped with a killer but it is when a second body is found that the police find themselves stretched to braking point. Julienne will have to recruit her own eyes and ears if she wants to caught the killer before the snow stops. At the same time can she also stop her friend from getting her heart broken by the handsome detective and breaking a teenage heart herself? Who said snow days were fun? In this case it could be deadly.
I really liked the narrator and think she was part of the reason I enjoyed the audio book more than the book (a!though both were good). The characters really came alive with her retelling.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
