Summary
If you are an adult child of a narcissistic mother, this audiobook is for you, and if you are not sure whether your abusive mother is a pathological narcissist, you will find out.
If you listen to this audiobook:
- You will become aware of all the reasons why your childhood was so traumatic.
- You will learn how to deal with your narcissistic mother without being her victim any longer.
- You will find out all dysfunctional beliefs and habits that you developed during your childhood.
- You will learn how to contrast Complex Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms.
The issue of toxic mothers challenges the status quo in so many ways but does need to be addressed. Adult children of narcissistic parents are often plagued with so much guilt and sense of deep obligation and shame that they feel duty-bound to keep whatever happened in the family secret, even when it is shredding their lives. It’s really difficult to share your experience because narcissists, and especially a narcissistic mother, can be very good at creating the perfect image of the family for outsiders.
The solution is not forgiving or forgetting, but understanding and working on your self-development, and finally taking back control of your life.
Even if you were born in the wrong place, growing up dealing with an abusive mother, you can leave the past behind and build a better future by taking control of your life. This audiobook is a painful path of awareness, but it is also the first step of a journey toward a better life.

Just in time live saving
After 20+ years of running away from my mother, time has come to go back to her as she needs more care. I was scared, stressed and depressed by the prospect. I was searching for help to survive this, and I found this book. It explains all the hurt, the frustration and the anger of me and my family. It gives useful advices. It gives me hope. I start to think that probably it’s not that there’s much wrong with me, but it’s what my mother put in my head. I wish I read this book much earlier, but better late than never.
Thank author for her life saving book and the narrator for her soothing voice. I’m sure this book will be my life line in the coming years whenever I’m desperate

Very good
While I don't have a narcissistic mother, I do have one with narcissistic traits. this book really helped with acknowledging that and understanding her and experiences from my childhood.

Great information
A relatively short listen, It contains lots of really good information. The tone and speed of the narration makes it quite an intense listen so I'd recommend listening to 30 to 45 mins at a time and giving yourself time to think about the content rather than ploughing through huge chunks at once.

Accepting the Past
I didn’t see how this book could possibly help me. I’d reached my lowest point, having absolutely nobody to talk to about my narcissistic mother for fear of being judged.
This booked described my mother but it was also incredibly accurate on me, my self esteem, social anxieties, need to please.
I’m a grandmother and she is a very active great grandmother but still she continues to put me down and destroy me mentally. Her charm will blow you away and so friends and family continue to question MY behaviour.
Thanks to this book I am starting to hold my head up, lay boundaries and protect my peace.

definitely read better books on narcissism
becoming a narcissists nightmare was much better than this book I've read a few things here and there on narcissistic abuse abd thought how specific this one was would be good but it's not worth it honestly better doing research on the Internet abd reading other books.
the voice was also very automated which was kind of off-putting as you continue reading
