About this listen
Glimpse into the twisted life behind one of America’s most horrifying serial killers.
Delving into the sick mind of the infamous killer Richard Ramirez, this thought-provoking true crime book sheds light on the childhood, upbringing, killings, and eventual capture of the man who stalked the southern Californian suburbs for over two years. Dubbed as the Night Stalker and baffling the police at every turn, Richard Ramirez left a trail of mutilation and death in his wake, cementing him as one of the worst serial killers America has ever seen.
Exploring the troubled yet unassuming upbringing of Ramirez and his hard-working immigrant family, this real crime story peels back the curtain on his life, examining what turned him into the monster he became. Detailing his early years and time at school, how he interacted with his family and close friends, and how he embarked on a dark path of Satanism and murder, this gritty book seeks to shed light on his twisted and evil mind, providing a new and gruesome look at his killing spree and the mindset that made him do it.
Perfect for fans of true crime stories, Richard Ramirez’s reign of terror left a dark shadow on California’s past, showing people the terrifying truth that anyone could become the next victim of a serial killer.

Good but short
I didn't check the length of the book, too short for one credit, but that's my fault.
way too short, but still interesting and horrifying throughout

A excellent introduction to the Night Stalker Case
With the growing rise in popularity of the true-crime genre, primarily thanks to Netflix’s increased production of such programmes, it’s no surprise that true crime novels are being published left, right and centre. However, it can often be hard to know where to begin especially when you’re unfamiliar with certain serial killers or crimes.
Well, James Richmond’s true crime novel, Night Stalker, is a short yet terrifying account and introduction to Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker. Richmond is unafraid to recount the gore of Ramirez’s crimes without overwhelming the reader or listener with too much information. Instead, Richmond’s approach to the Night Stalker case takes the reader right into the mind of a serial killer on the brink of being caught before unravelling his life from the beginning.
Paired with Aaron Smith’s narration, who is the perfect voice to narrate the events, it becomes an easy listen. Although, not one you’d like to listen to alone or while walking home at night as the details are genuinely unnerving.
Instead, Richmond and Smith paired together to create an atmospheric account of Ramierez’s life and the events that lead him to become the Night Stalker in a factual light. Moreover, Smith can take the matter of fact tone from Richmond’s writing and creating a chilling narration that acts as the perfect introduction to anyone new to the Night Stalker case.
Highly recommend this to anyone considering the Netflix series but want to have some understanding of the case before they delve much further.
