Summary
It happened one night not long after that holiday. I think they had been out, but I’m not sure. I remember I was sleeping in my bed when the noises of my mum and him getting home woke me. Suddenly, my bedroom door opened, but it wasn’t my mum. I didn’t know where she was. It was him. I pretended to be asleep. He came to the side of the bed, and I didn’t know what was happening, but my mind told me to stay still. He pulled the covers back; I didn’t move. I kept my eyes closed. My heart felt like it was jumping out of my chest. He lifted my legs apart, and I let them move. He pulled up my nightdress and pulled my pants down. I didn’t even try to open my eyes.
Imagine being an innocent seven-year-old girl with a broke, single mum. Now imagine your mum meets a man who can give her a nice house and a better life in exchange for you. That’s what happened to me. For years, I suffered neglect and psychological and sexual abuse from him, with my mum being a silent witness. When I was finally able to get rid of him and escape, I didn’t know that my life was only going to get worse. After a battle against addiction, depression and suicidal thoughts that lasted for years, and with the help of therapy, I started to slowly recover and get my life back. Although my healing journey has just started and there’s still a long way to go, I can say I’m alive. I had No One to Save Me, yet I survived.

What A Story
This was shocking to listen too, the abuse and the mum being silent about what was happening. I felt so sorry for the main character and what she went through even after she managed to get away her life was still spiralling downwards with the suicidal thoughts and depression. I’m happy she found some semblance at the end and has come out a better person.

This is a heartbreaking story!
I want to said first, it takes a very strong woman to live through this and still be able to go on. This story had me from the beginning, I couldn’t stop listening. I recommend this audiobook. The author has an extremely well written and narrated story. This book is based on a true story and I personally have experience and was to scared to tell anyone. So listen to this story brought up old memories. I have over come my passed.
The narrator does a fantastic job with the characters and the voices of each character.
I am so proud that you had the courage to tell your story.
I definitely recommend this audiobook.

An amazing recount of a journey to survival!
Enjoyed listening to this honest, raw and very moving book. Narrator was fantastic. So glad that the author is on the right road to living life to fullest and no longer giving that monster another minute of her life. Worth a read!

Harrowing.
I got this book from Facebook in exchange for a review. I'd like to say I enjoyed it, but the subject matter was very harrowing indeed. What this poor woman experienced as a child, has coloured her life and relationships with everyone around her. I was pleased to see that she is still seeking help from professional people and hopefully she will have a meaningful recovery and remain fit and well emotionally and physically.

Amazing story
Amazing story of complete hopelessness due to child abuse & complete healing at the end. A gripping story. I never knew it was possible for someone to suffer so much & turn their life around so much. Highly recommend this story. It has a message of hope that even through the trauma & shining light is at the end.

Beautifully written and narrated
I read the ebook sometime ago and love this beautifully written account of a harrowing story.
I’m glad I have now listened to the audio. It is brilliantly narrated by Eleanor Shannon and enabled me to hear the story better from the authors view - rather than through the fog of prejudice and horror of my own making, that I felt when reading the ebook.
Both formats suit this account, different but complimentary.
No One To Save Me is the most harrowing of tales about a poor little child who ‘fell through cracks’, failing to be saved from the monster who tormented her, almost to death. The most awful, harrowing and disgusting sentence I may have ever read, referring to the abuse and neglect of this child is ‘It was just not convenient’ (for adults to take action).
I have been on over two years of training to work with vulnerable children. My local authority should have saved themselves the trouble and sat us down for Melissa Jordan to read us all No One to Save Me. And then they should sit down our wards, to be inspired by Melissa and shown a light.
Beautifully written.
I could barely bring myself to write the author’s name against my references to that poor broken child - and shame on me for that.

A rollercoaster of emotions book
I was recommended this book to read by a friend. I choose the Audio version due to having a number of other books currently on the go. It wouldn't normally be the kind of book i would choose but I thought as it was based in the country where i live i would try it.
Firstly the narrators voice of Eleanor shannon was very easy to listen too and she used tones throughout the book to convey the feelings of Melissa well and kept you captivated.
It's not an easy book to digest, i found myself taking breaks as some content were hard to listen too but then i put myself in Melissa's shoes and felt if i feel this bad how could she have felt.
To hear the complete story of her life and what she endured through up feelings of heartbreak, anger, sadness, happiness and love. It was a rollercoaster book of emotions but one everyone should read. As a mother myself to girls i wanted to give them an extra big hug and protect them each moment even more.
I applaud Melissa for standing up for herself, for keeping going through all the dark times and glad that her life is turning in a new direction and evolving. I am glad she seeked help and was able to get it and her therapy journey continues in a positive approach.
Wishing her and Jack all the love and happiness. x
