Summary

Set in the same world as Mick Herron's bestselling Slough House thrillers, Nobody Walks introduces JK Coe, a fledgling spy who's about to get a harsh lesson in the realities of life on Spook Street

Tom Bettany is working at a meat processing plant in France when he gets a voicemail telling him that his estranged 26-year-old son is dead - Liam Bettany fell from his London balcony, where he was smoking pot.
Now for the first time since he cut all ties years ago, Bettany returns home to London to find out the truth about his son's death. But more than a few people are interested to hear Bettany is back in town, from incarcerated mob bosses to those in the highest echelons of MI5. And some of them - like JK Coe - will have cause to regret his reappearance.

Bettany might have thought he'd left it all behind when he first skipped town, but nobody ever really walks away.

Fabulous

After listening to this, I'm inspired to read everything the author has written as the quality of the writing, the story itself and, the presentation were exceptional. I'm glad to find my mission may take some time.

I enjoyed the link back to the Slough house series of books and some familiar characters

I love the way kick Heron writes. Can’t wait for the next one to get my ears on.

A brilliant noir spy novel

Beautifully written, as Mick Heron’s books always are, and this is as much a reason for this novel’s brilliance as the characters and plot. Loved it.

HE NEVER FAILS

I am convinced that he has taken the torch from Lecare, Ellesontrevor et al as the best writer of espionage novels in his generation

Excellent narrative, brilliant narrator!

This is a gripping adjunct to the Slough House series, in that it references some of the characters who inhabit 'The Park', as well as introducing a very jaded, yet lethally effective new spook. The descriptions of London are faithfully drawn, the ambiguity of the characters motives are realistic and the narrator is excellent. The ending though, seemed rushed and annoyingly inconclusive. We need a sequel!

Another brilliant novel

I have enjoyed all the Slough House novels by Mick Herron and so wanted to read a more stand alone novel to compare and was not disappointed. Great story of revenge and darker than Slough house but still featuring some familiar characters. Sean Barrett superb narration as usual made it a great listen.

Nick Heron Kills it Again!!

Great story, well told, centred a reluctant but highly capable anti-hero seeking redemption. Jackson Lamb with a sense of guilt!!
