About this listen

A gripping first-hand account from inside the halls of Congress as Donald Trump and his enablers betrayed the American people and the Constitution-leading to the violent attack on the Capitol on 6th January 2021-by the House Republican leader who dared to stand up to it.

In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the US Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on the Capitol.

Liz Cheney, one of the few Republican officials to take a stand against these efforts, witnessed the attack first-hand, and then helped lead the Congressional Select Committee investigation into how it happened. In Oath and Honor, she tells the story of this perilous moment in US history, those who helped Trump spread the stolen election lie, those whose actions preserved the constitutional framework, and the risks the US faces and the worldwide implications.

Pity the GOP

What is going on with American politics? Why are they voting for Trump; are they completely devoid of integrity in the GOP. This is a comprehensive analysis of the situation leading up to and post January 6, well documented and well presented. I am a Brit having worked, been educated and married in the US but would I go back in the current climate … rhetorically and emphatically no! British politics is a disgrace but not as bad as that in America…. Sorry to say.

Profound and moving

The intermingling of audio excerpts within the narrative was most welcome and made for an unexpected emotional journey of a reading. This is an excellent book and I hope many Americans read it.. Ms. Cheney is a very impressive leader and should be taken seriously.

Historical & sagacious

An account by a person who has sacrificed her political standing to inform others of her attempts to protect democracy. This book is well organised, presented & documented. Cheney’s approach of presenting facts, live recordings & documented events, breaks away from the over saturated narrative concerning ‘fake news’ and instead focuses on events that are documented in a variety of mediums.

The clarity of her thinking about the awful threat facing America.

I really like Liz Cheney and her book. It is good to know there is at least one honest Republican in this world. She is a person to admire and I hope she ends up president one day. If Trump is the Anti-Christ threatening the end of our country then she is one of the countries Saviors.

Wow. Amazing.

What a book! I was an exchange student in California from 1988 to 1989 and have always taken an interest in US politics.
I watched in horror on January 6th, as brainwashed citizens of country I have loved an admired try to destroy the flagship democracy of the world.
Thank goodness for people like you, your Democratic colleagues and Adam Kinzinger.
The world now watches with fear and bated breath to see what happens next in this sad and dangerous era of your country and the world! I hope people will see sense and once and for all the Republican Party can return to what it once was and that Trump is finally removed from the political arena. God bless you and the United Stars of America.

A frightening look into the past and possible future of American politics

Oath and Honor is an honest and thoughtful cautionary tale about the importance of doing the right thing no matter the cost.

The earnestness

Not sure I like Ms Cheney, but I respect the hell out of her. A bit repetitious in part but worth the read.

Every American voter should read this book

A formidable account written and narrated by an extremely formidable woman. It is said that the last thing left in Pandora’s box is hope. Trump did indeed burst open Pandora’s box, Liz Cheyney is indeed, that hope.

History in the making.

This is a long awaited genuine account of the January 6th 2021 insurrection hearings.
It's does not disappoint nor does it meander with biographical context.
If you have followed the shenanigans of the deeply flawed protagonist since 2016,
I would say your reading is not complete until you've read or listened to 'Oath and Honor.'
