About this listen
"An essential read for anyone committed to understanding the technologies that will define our future." CHRISTIAN ANGERMAYER, BIOTECH ENTREPRENEUR AND FOUNDER OF APEIRON INVESTMENT GROUP
Welcome to the biotech revolution
In the last century, technology has transformed the human experience across the world. This has been super-charged by the arrival of the internet, smart phones, AI and machine learning, and created trillion-plus dollar companies and household names like Apple, Amazon, Google and Microsoft.
Our Future is Biotech explains why biotech is next: because our biggest remaining challenges as a species concern biological systems.
Biotech companies will solve our most intractable problems, from cancer, dementia, obesity and diabetes to elderly care, mental health conditions, and even clean power generation, agricultural production and environmental degradation.
Biotech means that we can all live better, safer, healthier, wealthier, happier, and longer lives.
The industry has already delivered "miracle cures" for several diseases, and there is more to come. But despite this, few people are aware of the phenomenal progress being made. Our Future is Biotech addresses this, explaining what biotech is, what is coming next, and how you might profit from it too.
Tech has been the most important theme for human progress for the last century. Biotech is next.

Positive outlook
I’ve recently read many books about health, lifespan and investing and this one contains all three. But from the author’s previous books and from the introduction I thought it was going to include more about investing. I read the introduction before the book was released and I think it was changed. The investment information was only in the introduction. I would have also like more information about what the reader can do today to help themselves, which was mainly only included in the conclusion. I really like the positive outlook for the future it gives. My last book called the material world was also mainly positive about the future. I feel happier after reading these two book. This book contains many interesting points and I learned a lot. I had read almost all the recommended books from the author. But he also recommends the book breathe twice which I’ve not read yet. That’s going to be my next book.

Not what I expected but a good read in any case
Given the authors previous books are on investing, I had hoped there would be more about it in this book specifically on Biotech. Sadly this only came in the form of about 1 minute at the very end.
However that said there are lots of things I’ve learnt in this book about what the Biotech industry really is and challenging what I now know are false beliefs which are common in society today.
Towards the end it made me think ahead 150 years about the people who will read this book. Things that are totally normal to them being spoken about as futuristic concepts then.

enjoyable but not what I thought
Having read How to own the world and knowing Andrew invests in Biotech I thought this was going to be more personal and a bit more directional in what to look for and how to value it.
Whilst Andrew does touch on this he spends much more of the book going over what is possible now, how to look at the situation with optimism and what the future looks like with exponential thinking.
All in all whilst the book wasnt what I expected going in I was entertained and have taken away several ideas for the future and will begin researching some companies for investment opportunities.
I would reccomend this book to anyone wanting to know more about biotech as a broader industry. The information touches on a lot of things briefly so there isnt much depth however like me you might come away with ideas you want to deep dive.

Excellent into to biotech, although contains a few questionable opinions
Great into to biotech and discussion on certain points such as machine learning, AI, nanotechnology, gene editing, the future of agriculture/lab grown meat, exponential improvements and cutting edge treatments. He briefly discusses the value of investing in biotech, and I'm certainly doing my research on this.
It must be said that there are some questionable opinions, such as plugging a brand of probiotics and AG1 (a massive mistake in my view), a strange obsession with cold exposure and plugging Wim Hof (there are some benefits to it, but very over hyped in my view). There is some opinions on diet and supplements that I'm not keen on either. I'd personally prefer the author's opinions on holistic health to be omitted entirely, as this is a digression from the topic of biotech.
I'd also appreciate if the author were to discuss the ethical implications of biotech, rather than often dismissing them as uneducated opinions.
That's not to take away from what is an excellent book, just take these opinions with a pinch of salt.
