I loved it!
Was recommended this and, as I always enjoy a good long historical read, went for it. Claire Randall is visiting the highlands of Scotland with her husband after the end of the Second World War. She slips through time when out one day and finds herself back in Jacobite Scotland. Pursued by a psychotic English redcoat captain, she is rescued and has to marry, a handsome (of course!) Scot. They have various adventures but fall in love along the way. I was completely engrossed and will move on to Book 2 very shortly.

Brilliant Story and Narration
It's many years since I first read the Outlander series, and I enjoyed rediscovering them a couple of years ago. Now, I'm loving them all over again listening to Davina Porter's wonderful narration. I have one or two very, very small niggles on pronunciation of the odd word, but really I'm searching for something to make this less gushing in even mentioning that.
Ms Porter brings much beloved characters to life wonderfully. Male and female, and even children. Her voice is now Claire for me.
Heartily recommended these books. Jamie is the best book boyfriend ever, but the story is so much more than a romance. Listening to them has added a whole new dimension. Well worth the credit! <3

Scottish love story
Loved it from beginning to end ... Chose it because being tight I wanted to get my money's worth with my credit and looked for longest book I could find ... I'd never heard of outlander before but I wasn't disappointed I'm hooked and can't wait to listen to the rest of the books

Beautiful, magical and pretty racy!
I absolutely adored Outlander, the characters are believable and brought to life spectacularly by a very talented narrator. Highly recommended!

Brilliant
Would you consider the audio edition of Outlander to be better than the print version?
I read the books, that is all 8 first, but then decided to listen to them as well. I'm glad I did because I've enjoyed them even more second time around.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I love the characters of Jamie and Clare,but there's a strong supporting cast too.
What does Davina Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
The narration by davina porter is excellent.

Much better than the tv series
After being introduced to outlander via the Tv series I thought I'd give the books a listen... so much more detail to the story and told so well! 5* book! Can't wait to listen to the next in the series!

Fantastic
Listened greedily all through. One of the best listens ever. Ordered the second immediately & no doubt complete the series. As always the books are better than the TVs series.

Outlander
Excellent book and so well written I enjoyed it from start to finish. It's not my usual type of book but I couldn't put it down and can't wait to start dragonfly in Amber to see where Claire Randall goes from from here. Time travel, history, sex and adventure. Diana Gabaldon has got it just right.

highly entertaining listen
This book is crammed full of action, historical highland drama, extreme violence and steamy sex scenes. It has the whole range of emotions from fury to tenderness, all excellently portrayed by the narrator. The story twists through all sorts of adventures. Looking forward to book 2.

I simply love these books :-)
The book is great!! Though in the audio version Claire sounds bit too young and gigly for my taste. I very much prefer her mature version in the series.
