Summary
A man focused on success. An artist determined to make a difference. A fateful choice between love and money.
Alex:
I’m on the verge of burning out, but I can’t quit. I refuse to be poor, refuse to return to Texas a failure. My career is everything - at least that’s what I thought before I was set up on a blind date with Jordan, the boy from my past I left behind.
Jordan is everything I remembered - a brilliant artist dedicated to making a difference in the world. He calls to my soul, reawakens the part of me I crushed in order to get ahead. How can I be with someone whose political activism threatens my very livelihood? How can I not, when he reminds me of the person I used to be?
A person who would make the choice to betray his employer and hand over sensitive financial documents in order to bring down a tyrant bent on destruction.... A person who is carrying a life-altering new secret.
Jordan:
I’m falling in love with someone who works for the most evil bank in the country - the boy I loved when we were kids. But he isn’t the same person. I know Alex - he isn’t a man without a conscience, a man devoted to nothing but success. The more time we spend together, the more I can see the familiar light coming back into his eyes. A light banishing the impostor who would choose murky success over ethics, sabotaging our relationship.
He’ll have to make a final choice - us, or his dreams of wealth. Have I gone too far, bringing Alex into my world of battling corporate greed? I don’t want our relationship to cost him his career, his reputation....
But maybe it should, if it means halting his walk down a dark path.
A path we now have no choice but to walk together. I’m expecting Alex’s baby...and Alex is expecting mine.

Got to ch6, sadly its a DNF.
I am buying the ebook and will get the auto screen reader to play the book for me while I'm to busy to actually sit and read.
To the Narrator, I like your voice, I just think you could do with a little more practice with flow of the story your telling, perhaps some help with making edits more seamless and less jarring. I will probably come back to you in the future.
as for the story, up to ch6, I think it could be a good story, I love Aiden, he's a bit of a comfort read/listen for me, especially after a mentally straining time.
I stand by my no returning policy because of how negatively it hits Authors.

long and exaggerated version of a great story
hasn't read this one before listening to it and was pleasantly surprised by the plot. bear tears at the angsty bits, smiled at the lovely bits. tbe narrator wasnt great, very drawn out, drawled voice with poor inflection. not bad enough to turn off but not great.

My Review
I loved the twist in this story about both men having babies. I also like the fact that you wrote about the thorny issue of protesting and how you dealt with it. I enjoyed the book, keep me coming

Skip the audio and buy the ebook
ok, so I don't normally critique the narrator often it the production but I sped this book up to 2x and it was still slow and broken. I don't know if it was the narrator or the production quality but if I were you? I'd skip the audiobook and just buy the ebook.
As for the story, I live MM Mpreg and I love this author but I really didn't connect with these characters at all. I found one of the characters emotional issues a bit too much. I found him more of a wet blanket and his issues got on my nerves. I wanted the other lead to just dump his whiney a$$, lol.
I felt the author just was focused more on the one's issues and the story kinda stalled for me and it went on waaaaaayyyyy too long. I perseverate enough on my own, don't want to listen to someone else with more nerousies than me.

Awful narration IMO.
I usually love Aiden's book, but this was a struggle to finish. The narration was terrible, and the narrator seemed to slow his voice down to a drawl, but it was wrong. I ended up listening at 1.50 speed on audible. Even then, the narration wasn't good, but at least it went quicker.
This is the first and last time I will buy a book narrated by John Hong.
Although I wouldn't say I like reading eBook's that much, I would have preferred it to this audible.

as good as the ebook
The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

DNF
I couldn't get past the narrator. The words are said abruptly with no real flow or with much tonal fluctuations. I may try to listen at another time but it's just not peaking my interest.
