Summary
Working in the ER of a small South Carolina hospital, Dr. Rhea Lynch has seen it all - most of it at 2:00 a.m. But when an interracial couple is rushed in, beaten and bloodied by a mysterious hate group, the patients show signs of a fast-acting pulmonary infection Rhea has never seen before. Within hours, it proves fatal.
Soon, more victims are rushed in, and an epidemic has Dawkins County in an icy grip of terror. As the puzzling illness claims more lives by the hour, Rhea begins to draw some startling conclusions about the nature of the illness...and about its connections to the military.
How could something like this have happened in this peaceful community? Can it be stopped? Every second counts as Rhea desperately tries to fit the pieces together - and soon realizes that she is dealing with something bigger and more terrifying than she could ever imagine.

Entertaining
Would you listen to Prescribed Danger again? Why?
I read the book many years ago and decided to listen to it this time. I was not disappointed and whilst the story line is slightly far fetched, it is a story after all, the medical details are fairly accurate and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Any additional comments?
The book kept my attention very well and was entertaining, so much so that I bought the next in the series as soon as I finished listening.

A medical procedure novel
As I said where reviewing book 1 in the series, this is not normally my cup of tea, but again I thoroughly enjoyed this book. All the medical procedure and technical information is laced skillfully into the story context.
Although the narration was still a little annoying, I will be getting the next book in the series

Enjoyable
What made the experience of listening to Prescribed Danger the most enjoyable?
I like the characters it is an entertaining story and you always want to know what will happen next
I like the detail and the way the other characters and dogs interract
What other book might you compare Prescribed Danger to, and why?
Hard to really think of many - I havent read many Medical dramas. The obvious comparison is Delayed Diagnosis - the first of this series
What didn’t you like about Carol Hendrickson’s performance?
I am not keen on the style its all a bit too urgent, though others may feel that its appropriate given the storyline. Her attempt at an english accent for the british character was cringeworthy. I usually like the narrators for Audio books but just dont really get on with Carol Hendrickson for some reason. Wont stop me listening to the others in the series though
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes it was hard to put down once I got going and into the story
Any additional comments?

Intriguing medical mystery
Where does Prescribed Danger rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is one of those audiobooks that I couldn't put down, as was the case with the previous Gwen Hunter book I happened to come across, Premature Diagnosis. In Prescribeded Danger the narrator injects a lot of atmosphere into her reading of the story, with tension but also humour throughout.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Rhea Lynch, the experienced and excellent ER doctor who is the main character in this series of books, is plucky and intuitive and displays clever dectection skills to get to the root of this mysterious and scary epidemic.which is threatening to overtake the small South Carolina town.
Which character – as performed by Carol Hendrickson – was your favourite?
All the characters have their own distinctive accents and give an authentic flavour and colour to the story as it unfolds.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
This audiobook gripped me from beginning to end and I do thoroughly recommend it.
Any additional comments?
My compliments to both the author and the narrator.
